I have seen some great questions raised in the PDFSP Forums, with some even greater answers given, yet hardly anybody has reputation beyond “a distinguished road”. With over 110,000 posts, this forum is already well-established and a great community to join and provide value for others. Not that it makes a big difference to me, because there are some of the smartest people on the net around here, helping others, etc. Just curious as to why we don’t really use the system. |

Somehow, marking a post is a bit impersonal. When I have something to add I usually post in the thread or write a PM to the person. I don't know of any forum that activly uses the reputation function. |

I'm not here for reputation points or anything like that... I'm here to learn and grow and to help others grow. I'm also not forum or computer savvy, so at first I didn't have any clue that I could do that sort of thing. Yet, I believe learning and helping is/should be the goal of this forum. I thank those who give reps, and now that I know the function I may give some too, but I think our goal should reach beyond this.

| That's entirely up to Steve (or Erin). It's not a big deal to me if it's kept or not either. I just found it odd that the function is enabled, yet no seems to use it. Do you think the community would be better off if it were to be disabled?

| My intuition says that the reputation feature could be distracting from the content of the forums. I do not feel strongly against or for the feature. If I had to make the decision to leave it enabled or disable it I would probably disable it.

I do give out reputation, 'cause it's fun to do. I had never checked before now to see if I had received any - I did, about a month ago. AND it was in reference to a post that I've since doubted, wondering if I said something "the wrong way". Nice to get that "outside" confirmation. I'm glad the reputation thing has never been a focus here, though. |
