after death
 

I've often wondered what lies beyond death. Will we be greeted with a huge welcoming party in heaven, will we wake up to our true identity as Gods, or will we even wake up? The question has floated around my brain, sometimes wreaking havoc, other times causing great excitement. I think it scares people to consider the possibility that our consciousness dies along with our body. We can't accept that we might just be limited beings alive for a short time. Sometimes it excites me to think that I am only one of seven bilion people, and ultimately unimportant. The realization that nothing I do matters, gives me great relief. I feel that my sole purpose on this earth is do enjoy myself, and make the best of every minute. Does anyone else share my feelings?

My feeling on it is what you believe is what you get.

Think you're going to heaven and you're like to see yourself floating off from the body towards the pearly gates. If you think that you're going to reincarnate you'll hang around for a few moments then hop in another body.

I'm not exactly sure what happens to the atheist though. Perhaps he gets a big surprise, like lying in the casket and feeling like he's not dead :rolleyes:

The only thing I know is that I don’t know. I have absolutely no way of knowing what will happen when this body dies.

For some, not knowing what happens after death is more horrifying than death itself. It is more important for them to be in a good situation in death than to be attentive and compassionate now.

I can't accept what the religion, spirituality, athiests, etc., tell me about the end of this organism. I am not against any of that, mind you. I am simply not capable of accepting external influences such as those.

Since I have no idea what happens, I might as well fully live life here NOW. There are no guarantees, after all.

Nothing happens! You die, and you're dead. Better make the most out of life, since it's really all you have. :(

I don't believe in an afterlife, or any sort of other worldly stuff, or a God (or gods). The evidence for all of that stuff is always extremely flimsy, contradictory, not supported by science, prone to personal bias, prone to groupthink, and so on. If one day science exclaims, "Hey! There's something else after this life!", then I'll consider rethinking my views. I don't believe having 'faith' is enough to warrant a religious/spiritual belief - I need real evidence. I need something concrete to base my beliefs on.

But for now, I'll stick to what I see. To me, it's all I get. :)

I believe that your life.....before and after death is deeply rooted in your belief system.If you believe there will be nothing,and you cease to exist,that is what you will do.If you beleive that you are going to go to Heaven to touch the face of Jesus,you will.If you believe you will reunite with your loved ones, you will.
Sometimes I think that we analyize these things too much ,and the most simple thing to do is to just look into your heart,and listen to your inner voice.

I had a scribe once tell me that you cannot disprove that which has yet to be proven,and that out of chaos comes perfection.
