Default Conversations with God

Just wondering if anyone has read the book Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch?
I am Currently reading it and resonating with it very much.
Just wondering what others think about? Start a 'conversation' about it.

Thumbs up Conversations with God

I have read several of Neal Donald Walsch's books. At first I couldn't get enough of them, but lately I find that his books are just preachy. I have basically gone back to A Course In Miracles.

I enjoyed the film on Neal's life very much. If you get a chance, order it. It would be well worth it.

I've read most of his books - I loved the first 3.

I also got "Home with God" last year which was perfect timing since my mom died in January last year - I found it very comforting.

I loved the conversations books. Book 1, Friendship and Tomorrows god are my favourites. I believe there is something for everyone in his books. Believers and non-believers. I know some people dispute the information given simply because it is stated to be directly from god. I don't really care what package the truth comes in and I related to the books on a spiritual level i.e. my reactions and responses to the information. I found them to be down to earth and logical.
Have you any particular issues with the books you would like to discuss? It would make a nice change to discuss other than the bible.

One of my favorite books on spiritualiy, life, god, sex, truth... the whole kit and kaboodle.

I really like the books 1 - 3. My favourite part is chapter 11 in book 3 where he describes the soul. That put a lot of information I'd been gathering into place for me.

Like he says in the book. He's not a perfect filter but he tries his best. There is some fabulous informaiton in there about enjoying life and creating what you want from life. And God has a great sense of humour too

Hello guys I am a newbie

I have read one of Neal's books but try as I may I simply can not take it seriously

To me Neal is talking to himself or his subconsciousness. The idea that a tiny mortal can have a buddy buddy relationship with the Almighty blows my mind. Even Jesus approach God more carefully

I really wanted to put the book down when I got to the part where god is supposed to have told Neale that Hitler was in heaven

Hitler is in hell!!

Alan

Hi Alan,

Welcome to the boards.

The concept of Hitler or anyone cruel in heaven can be difficult to take if you believe the afterlife is punishment or reward for the way you live this life.

I don't believe in hell so I don't believe Hitler is there!

If you want something to help reconcile the idea of 'evil' people going to heaven then I highly recommend Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls by Michael Newton. He hypnotised thousands of people to recall their 'life between lives', there is amazing consistency betwen accounts and when someone who has done terrible things returns to the ether they are not greeted by their families, their soul is sent for re-education. There's more detail in the books about how this happens.

Oh and as we say on these boards, when something presses your buttons it's a fantastic gift to look deeper and learn more about yourself.

Default hi

im new to this forum.

want to say Hi and i am glad to have found this site.

Somehow i think that i need to be here-to learn

I am currently reading (again) the secret and i started reading the conversations with God ( 2nd one).

Yup i didnt started frm the 1st...i took it from my Mother - it is the only one she has.

at 1st i thought it was a bit...strange?That i have never red sth like that.

Now i see that deep down inside,i always saw Things like Neale talks in the book.
i was raised a catholic but i never felt close to what was said at the Church.
i write since i was very young and always believed it is not the 1st or last time i am here.i try to see beyong it all.Beyond material world and people.

And now i stopped from being so selfish.so judgemtal-i understood that i cannot judge anyone, that not myself. And that i have my Own Truths. And im only happy if i live through them.

i liked the part when he says that we are here to live in hapiness and not with fear or resentments.Or by pressure or live by what others want for us or Hope.

I never took any happiness on having to believe on what others believe.

i am gratefull t live and to be able to evolve.and become a better person ( at my eyes).

Yes.i do not beliebe in Hell either.i think that Hell is a word that describes hard situations, karma or suffering-but not in the other level.i think that if someone "misbehaves" as Hitler, that soul is sent here again.paying the karma.he is sent in order to learn the lessons he ddnt learned.

And yup i also comprehend when the book says that it was the Universal Mind that "created" Hitler. my feeling is that we are likely to be creating another one.

We must grow and be more generous.more kind.more ocuppied with living by Love and with Love, rather than living better, even if that means throwing others down in life.

Hi,

I read his books and thought they were great at the time. The first was the best, the others pretty good though. Just before i read them i started the seth material but that was too much for me at the time, i read the cwg trilogy, that seemd to help and I went back to the seth material which i still read today,

Default Cwg

I first listened to a tape from Neale about 10 years ago - around the same time I was first blown-away with the Abraham-Hicks material. Bear with me for a sec and I'll bend your ear a bit on how I'm using the CWG material.

I went through some painful soul searching last year. Picked up a book on meditation. Felt the need to re-visit the Abraham-Hicks material. Bought books, rented "The Secret Behind The Secret". Shared the material with my husband - I was totally enthusiastic and the stuff just felt "right". I started using my feelings (emotional guidance system) and that felt "right".

One afternoon we were in Goodwill, just wandering around. I went to the book section and there was CWG, Book Two, for .99!!! I got it and started reading it. I quickly realized I needed to start with Book One, got it cheap @ Amazon along with Book Three. What a fun exploration!!

I've come to realize Esther Hicks isn't channelling, but EXPRESSING God. She and God are One with the rest of us. God and Neale are One with the rest of us. They were whomped upside the head. Most of us work our entire lives hoping to DO something that will prompt God to whomp us upside the head - a little scarred that might happen too, of course.

The thing is, we are getting whomped on all the time, we just don't know it.

I've learned from this material many things, one of the most important is "to go with the flow" of my feelings, follow the path of least resistance. If it feels wrong, it just won't serve you. If it feels right, it will. Same goes with the books- if it works for you, fine. If it doesn't, go away, come back in a few years. Shoot!! It took me 10 years to get the AHA of the CWG books.

The material connects differently with all of us that read it, I think.

I think Neale's books are amazing, beautiful depictions of Truth. Neale is a courageous, wonderful man.

His books are good. I first read the first one when it came out, in a bookstore.
I thought he had just read some Seth/Jane Roberts books and made a simplified version.
The positive thing is his books are helping to spread this new mythology. Same with abraham, Ramtha etc...

In 1000 years will it look like the truth still or just a metaphor referencing a greater truth?

Good question. They say that education is a process of telling smaller and smaller lies.

For example, we can start out by saying that "we are all one" by saying that we are connected. We are like individual leaves on a tree.

This is a valid way of looking at things, but this presumes the validity of space, as if you can be over here and I can be over there. It's a great start.

Then you can look at things from a holographic perspective, saying that everything exists in the same location, but when you change the angle you view the hologram at, you see a different version of the hologram. Thus everything is literally here and now. The duality of here and there or you and me is nothing more than a shift in consciousness, a change in perspective.

We can talk about God as being the Father or the Mother, but the Divine is beyond human gender. Perhaps referencing Source would be a more accurate word when talking about "that which gives rise to" or the Unmanifest.

Who knows where we'll be in 1000 years. Hopefully in direct Unity with the Truth of who we are. In fact, how 'bout now!?

I understand your doubt. As a person who has had direct conversation with God the Almighty I can tell you, although you have no reason to believe, that the voice of my subconscious and the voice of God sound incredibly distinguishable. After the fact, after I've been spoken to, it is always my first impulse mainly out of shock and awe to attempt to claim that it was just my subconscious, that I am not worthy nor is it possible for the creator of the universe to be speaking to me. But always God convinces me that it is in fact Him/Her/It. I think that my individual soul works as a translator for these messages, so they are put through a sort of filter before they reach me, and I imagine its similar for mr. walsch. But you should be less quick to doubt spiritual gifts and experiences. God doesn't want you to doubt his awesome power like that anymore.

I like the idea that education is bringing us closer to the truth. That is a nice optimistic idea.
David Bohms' Holographic Universe is definitely an interesting idea but needs more to back it up.

The problem I have with "why not now" is because every civilization has it's mythologies which are always generally in line with current science fact. Christianity fit in with 2-4000 year old science and modern metaphysics (although not as complete a system) fits in with our science (the holographic model is popular with quantum physics). It's likely that 1000 years from now there will be a whole new science and a whole new mythology. So I find it unlikely that we just happen to be in the exact spot in time where everything is all figured out.
It's probabilistically unlikely. I just hope some of the core ideas our Hindu ancestors came up with and are now a part of our metaphysics are referencing a valid truth!

I first stumbled upon the CwG trilogy while in a bookstore. Long story short I was so interested in the book I bought it and finished the book in about 2 days. It took me about a month to finish the whole conversations with god trilogy.

Whether Neale was talking to God or not wasn't important to me, it was the material in the book. I can vouch and say that the knowledge + wisdom from these books changed my life for the better. It also brought me a crisper and better ( to me at least) understanding of God and Who I am.

Concepts I learned from this book include:
Separation is an illusion - I feel deeply that this is true and that everyone and everything is connected

We create our reality - we are all creators

State of Being matters

There is nothing We cannot Be, Do, or Have - we are indeed unlimited

We are God in the flesh - even in the bible it said We are Created in the image of God Itself

People will have mixed reactions from this book. I tried to recommended it to my Mother and other people but I have noticed that religious people and/or close minded people would initially discredit or become upset at this book.

Nonetheless, the understanding I received from this book allow me to say that this is one of the most powerful books ever. I can go on about this book but I think this will be enough for now lol.

Those people who have a strong desire to punish what they perceive as evil will not like CWG. I let a co-worker with strong religious opinions read CWG part I and she about wrung my neck!
