Schizophrenia is a form of psychosis, and there are several types. There is also "ordinary" psychosis which is called "paranoid psychosis" (which I belive you had,and is easyer to treat),and there is also paranoid schizophrenia (as one of the types of schizophrenia).
Scientist haven't figured out the whole process of disease, but you are predisposed in some way (genetics included).
They say that there's 40+ percent more probability that you will get schizophrenia if you are a weed smoker than non-smokers.
Around 1 percent of world population are schizophrenics, not much but a probability.

Many people think that things that are pleasant to them are necessarily beneficial to them in the long term (in the present or next cycle).
We have a saying in my country (still Europe ),maybe you have it also:

Road to hell is paved with good intentions!

Of course, there are different degrees of hellish existence, both in and out uf the body-not an eternal damnation!

yes very true i definately concur, however it may sound contradictory to the statement of mine that you quoted but during my period of research at the time of discovering psychosi,s i learnt that you have to have inherited a " schizophrenic gene", which like you said , predisposes you to psychosis in whatever form it may occur.

however when you say ordinary psychosis, i think perhaps that could be the bud of full blown schizophrenia, i mean its only a theory of mine but after speaking to people on the internet who have suffered from psychosis and especially after seeing a documentry on englands channel 4 i cant really see that ther are diferent strenghts of psychosis, i think its more to do with your atachment to reality while experiencing psychosis, that allows you to overcome it, i mean i even say nowadays im not the full ticket but read my signature. i mean reading this and other threads by myself would you think for one minute im a schiz? I heard something funny today on t.v........."people with high I.Q's are hard to get on with because they are either amazingly brilliant or insane and with an I.Q of 135 i would put myself into the insane catorgry, lol.

But on a serious not what really is schizophrenia, i'm not too knowledgeable on the condition but is it not just a negative/socially incorrect way of thinking worsened by habituation and negative feedback loops, i mean correct me if i am wrong but i am very interested to know because i wonder was i or am i one i get paranoid i worry about stuff im an oversensitive empathetic person troubled by many thing's wrong with the world and very skeptical of government true intentions e.g "the truth about 9/11"
as was the article i read in the paper, entitled. sorry to be so contoversial it was the first example that come to mind but are ther any more defining qualites of a schiz.

As in somatic (physical) diseases, there are degrees of damage inflicted on the patient (hepatitis A,B,C for example). There are people with some form of psychosis in high positions as well as those who can hardly be called humans (not becouse they are not worthy, but becouse they are totaly degraded- physicaly also).
I can see that you are English making many mistakes in writing, and it's possible that you are pulling somebodys leg
I have a close relative with this **** of a diagnosis, and so I know, plus I've seen many chemical freaks go down also!

As for 9/11-muddy waters!
