Looking at some of those Google results leads me to the conclusion that this was started as a way for Jehovah's Witnesses to theologically justify not worshipping Jesus as being one with God in the Holy Trinity, something that is one of the fundamental tenets of Christianity. (I would not describe Jehovah's Witnesses as Christian, BTW, but they are a Christian offshoot). So, having said this, saying that Jesus was an earthly incarnation of Michael does amount to heresy according to the belief of all the mainstream Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox churches. As a Catholic myself, I would never want to deny them the right to believe that, but, as many Christian apologetics sites will point out, the Bible makes it very clear that they're mistaken. To me, this seems tantamount to a religious conspiracy theory and there will always be those people who latch onto that kind of stuff. |
