No offense, but from reading that wikipedia article, he sounds like a nut.

But obviously, wikipedia is in itself unreliable, and I haven't read any of his works, so I am not one to comment.

But still...he sounds like a nut!

He does sound a bit wacky. I'm not trying to judge his work, but, based on what I saw in that Wikipedia article, I'd certainly need to see some clear evidence before subscribing to anything he's teaching.

Not saying that it is so... just a definite "could be"

Hawkins is basically preaching New Age spirituality, which has certainly been around long enough to make a fair evaluation. Speaking for myself, that's really not even why I'd call him a nut. If that article is accurate, he seems to have a pattern of strange decisions and occurences throughout his life that call his veracity into account.

Power Vs force is an interesting read. It's one of the books that opened me to "new age spirituality".

I've not read any of his books but I just finished reading the entry on Wikipedia. Now common sense says that if there is anything to applied kinesiology it would likely reflect someone's subconscious beliefs and not be used as a tool to measure things against some cosmic truth scale.

From Wiki:
Quote:
As a kind of nonlinear reality detector, available to testers and the testees whose overall spiritual awareness level meets the AK-tested standard of verifiable integrity (loc 200 plus), AK will work, Hawkins teaches, given that the requested statement also meets the basic level 200 upwards on the scale of consciousness. This requirement is presently roughly met by 20% of humankind according to Hawkins.
I find that very telling. I bet that 20% also roughly correlates with the same percentage of people that will buy his book. Meaning those that buy his book probably already believe in a large chunk of the stuff he is going to be writing about. Which also means their kinesiology results will similarly match Hawkin's. Not because of some cosmic truth but because they just share the same beliefs.

Quote:
Having measured the teachings of various teachers, institutions, and religions, as well as his own work, he calibrates the third book of his initial trilogy[56] the highest, at a level of consciousness 999.8, which is 0.2 apart from the calibration values of Jesus Christ, Buddha and Krishna ranking at 1000, the highest “level of consciousness“ possible for a human being in Hawkins' scale.
So he calibrated his own work at a level that nearly matched Christ, Buddha and kirshna? Yeah, I'd say his method only reflects belief and not truth.

Hehe, don't think Wikipedia is an accurate source on subjects beyond objective reality

Once things get into the realm of subjectivity, Truth isn't something you learn or know about (dualistic separation), Truth is something you experience and become (nondualistic Self-identity).

So I encourage everyone to find their own source of Truth wherever it is I found mine in Dr. Hawkins' teachings, but that doesn't mean everyone else should or has to As Dr. Hawkins commonly quotes, "You don't have to hate chocolate in order to like vanilla."
