I always considered higher self to be the true nature of self as in pure consciousness/awareness unattached to a physicality and ego to be the mind/body/physicality that higher self users to enjoy the physical plane.

To me that are seperate yet seemingly connected.

I agree with that. I know it's probably not the correct psychoanalytical definition, but I have always thought of the ego as the spoilt child in me, having a tantrum; the part of me that says, 'Gimme, gimme, gimme', 'I'm right and you're wrong', 'Only I count, nothing else'.
If you feed it enough, you may turn into some kind of power-mad dictator.

Thanks for reminding me about the entry and making a nice synchronicity for me! I've already glanced through it today, and now I'm having a second closer look.

And there's a question. How to differenciate "visual" Higher Self from imagination? I've noticed that it's easier for me to listen in order to hear my HS. But I consider myself as "visual" kind of person - I can create images in my head quite easily. I also have a strong imagination. So how to avoid getting confused?

Well going back to what I said.
Semantics.

What I mean is, if we use the words 'ego' and 'higher self'.....simply by using these words, we've created a division.

The real question is;
Is there this division?
Is there an exact dividing point between the 'ego' and the 'higher self'?
And do we create this division by using the words?

Or is it all one thing?

The very fact that one uses those words, creates a division.

What happens if we simply use the word 'I'?
(I AM.)

It is simply one thing. 'I'.

Well here's the thing. I absolutely agree with Erin.

I'm just going a step further, one could say. And not to say Erin doesn't know this.

As long as one continues to use the words 'ego' and 'higherself', there's this artificial seperation.

Get rid of them, (waste of time).....then you "become" your "higher self" right here and now. (Even using the word "become" is limiting to me, but oh well.)
AND you KEEP your ego, at the same time.

It's like someone is pointing at the moon, and saying "Isn't that beautiful?" and the other person is staring at the finger nodding his head, saying "Yes it is."


Thats how the "teachings" have become.
But then again it's all done on purpose.

Higher self, true self, consciousness are the words to describe the ultimate power, or ultimate truth, you. It's not about finding it, for it is ever present, the trick lies in connecting with it. I have done this while awake, it lasts for a few fleeting seconds and it is the most incredible feeling, I wish I could experience it at will all the time (maybe with practice) but maybe that's not how it's supposed to be.

I chose to come here and then make my way back to perfection, back to full 100% consciousness in it's true state, not bound by physical raeality. It's like the body dies and you say "that was great, now I'm back to full, free consciousness, what should I try next" and off you go.

We seem to want a reminder of true self while here in reality so we never forget who we really are, like when you play a video game and can pause it to see that you are sitting in a chair with a controller in your hand. Dreams and attaining that connection while awake are the reminders.
