Default The confessions of Saint Augustine?

Has anyone read this book? I was thinking about picking it up after hearing it be mentioned in an article.

I love Marcus Aurelius' Meditations.

I know it's not St. Augustine, but since St. Augustine was familiar with that work and it influenced the early Christians mightily, well, I thought you may be interested in it. Personally, I like this last of the Five Good Emperors' mostly humanist and fairly secular take on living the good life.

It's especially interesting when you consider that he penned some of the most beautiful and influential thoughts in Western Civilization while on campaign slaughtering Germanic tribesmen and women!

How advanced we have become spiritually. We still manage to re-create those amazing spiritual insights, yet, today we only feel the need to (mentally) slaughter the other town's football team. Up, up and away.
