Do you think there is a Creator, God, Higher power etc? Or is it just Karma, as in we get back the same kind of energy we give out, and there is no God/Creator? Or both? What is your view? I like to use the example of someone projecting negative energy at another person, such as in the form of a magickal curse. How does the target get free of that? By turning to God (many people would recommend that), or by considering it a karmic situation and just striving to do good things and bless others, thereby undoing the negative energy? Is God just an idea of man's mind? Sometimes I think so, sometimes not. Young children know nothing about God until we teach them, and they for the most part are perfectly happy and joyous, so it seems to me that saying God is necessary in one's life is man's fabricated idea. To me it seems love/karma is the truth of the universe. That is, we simply get back in kind what we give out, good and bad. What do you think? |

These are big questions! My views are boring but in the spirit of self-expression I will briefly document them. Just so it is clear, I respect all opinions and I'm not saying my views are "better". But my current framework is that there is no God and Karma is nothing more than cause and effect. If you eat a lot of chocolate today, you will be a bit heavier tomorrow, and you will probably crave chocolate a little bit more. To me, it's about habituation creating spirals that, over time, have big consequences. The same can be said for thoughts. I also subscribe to the idea that people reward kindness and generosity by wanting to be good and kind back. In that sense, Karma is a general truth. It also feels good to be good to others. I don't personally believe in anything supernatural or mystical but maybe I will change my mind in the future. |

The Course in Miracles has an interesting statement on this. 'Vengeance is mine says the Lord' is a purely karmic concept. God has nothing do do with this. My own spin would be that we are operating in a cause and effect world, but that these rules can be easily overwritten once you remember who you really are. The force that gets you into trouble, the ego, is the one who afterwards beats you up over it. Just understand that you are not your ego and the subconscious guilt has become meaningless. Hope this helps and all the best, Zeitgeist |
