Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about using binaural beats as a meditation aid and also for self-hypnosis? I downloaded some sequences which get me quickly "under", but am finding I am having weird after effects which don't occur if I just meditate under my own steam. I frequently have a strange temporal headache which can last for hours afterwards, it's not like any normal headache. It's a bit difficult to explain, it's like a metallic ache. I also wake up very fuzzy, with my crown chakra buzzing for ages. and this is going to sound crazy, but my typing is all over the place, I'm usually a pretty accurate touch typist, but after using the meditations, I transpose letters like I'm dyslexic. Should I stop using these meditations? They help get me under very quickly, but I don't want to use them if they're in any way harmful. BTW I use stereo headphones, but they're not loud, so they're not the cause of the headaches. I also don't want to inadvertently open myself up to random energies through my crown, which I think might be happening. Any thoughts would be welcome, thanks xxxxmsp |

I've been using binaural and related technology for some years now, and I haven't had any negative effects. Rather the opposite. If you're having problems, you might try a different system. I use software from Transparent Corporation. It allows you to adjust the settings, amongst other things. There are a few sessions I tend to avoid because they have an unpleasant effect (in particularly one that is a "brainwave sweep" that goes from very low to very high and then back to the middle; it makes me extremely anxious). Some Beta sessions can also make me anxious, so I try to be careful with them, as well. If you're using pre-recorded material, well, you don't know what's in it, really. You can't see the settings or know anything else about it. I've always been really wary of that, just as I am with subliminal suggestions. |
