Default So I got invited to bible study by my former pastor

He invited me before. I said I'd go but I really didn't want to go. I saw him again today and he invited me, I said i'd check my schedule.

I'm thinking I should go, even though I'm not a christian anymore and I'm set with my beliefs now. The people are there are mostly my age and they are friendly, but I don't want to get preached at, you know.

Maybe i'll just go once, then stop. what do you think?

What would be your reasons for going, if you don't want to go?

If you think that by going you'll get something out of it and benefit from finding out a little bit more from a different tradition, then go for it. But if you feel pressured in any way because it's your old pastor then I would just let it be. It'll be a group of people from the same belief system sharing their faith with one another. Maybe your different opinions will be welcomed. Maybe they'll be attacked.

It sounds like your pastor is trying to bring you back into the fold. I don't know enough about your personal situation, but I'd sit this one out personally.

Tell this pastor you will go if he will study the parts of the Bible that dont fit with Christan doctron , the parts that dont make sence. A Johovas Witness once told me " you cant read the whole Bible , there are parts you cant read ". desert rat

how about getting together with those friends just for drinks* instead?

drinks* = some liquid that you put in your mouth, doesn't have to be alcohol

Being knowledgeable in the Abrahamic (Christian, Muslim, Jewish) belief systems, Hinduism, Buddhism, Zen, Yogic sciences and the Advaita, as well as other philosophies, may prove to be helpful to one’s inquire into what’s it all about.
