The desire for having power over others comes from a more fear-based illusionary place that the Ego likes to encourage.

I also don't agree that self-mastery and self-empowerment is not the solution to the craving for power over others.

Once a person is on the path towards attaining true power within themselves and mastery over their emotions and ego, there is no need to have control over others, and more so, that person would want to encourage self- empowerment in others as they have experienced first hand the benefits and harmony and wholeness that comes with this attainment. In short, they are more likely to want to lift others up than see them become enslaved to the whims of their ego.

It is definitely not feeding the same wolf. They are different creatures all together.

You do not see fear here? Its all fear cloaked in sweet assumptions like ' Inner power'.

That 'evil' word needs some clarification. The person of the year for 1930 was Gandhi, for 1939 Stalin and for 2008 Obama.

Who is 'we' that has a 'nature'? Tom, Dick and Harry?
I'm sorry? I don't believe evil exists, but per common terminology he is seen as one of the most evil men in history.

I don't think human nature exists. But it's a patent fact that humans hold the inclination to do bad. Throughout human history there have always been instances of inhumanity.

Right. But it's only opinions. And opinions change constantly, that's my point.

The entire OP is based on opinion.

What are only opinions? I think that the OP is mistaken in thinking that power is non-existent in humans, or even undesirable. who or what defines is desirable?

Well, the predictable part of Reefs might be that he doesn't play identity poker and doesn't smoke concepts for higher purposes.

Default There's a Hitler in Me?

If there's a Hitler in me, I sure hope he likes enchiladas, 'cause that's what he's getting for dinner.

What's that got to do with anything? TIME doesn't choose their person of the year because of admirable qualities but because they had such a significant effect on the world that year. They chickened out of putting Osama bin Laden on the cover in 2001.

OMG, you could be right!

But Hitler was nominated for the peace nobel prize in 1939 and Stalin in 1945 and 1948!

Just don't blame TIME magazine for that!

Hitler was nominated by one individual and that nomination was later retracted. I don't know much about the Stalin nominations.

Facts on the Nobel Peace Prizes
