| I know that even when I feel like crap, when I can force myself to smile, I suddenly begin to feel happy. Go fig ^_^

The power of a smile is HUGE. Scientists have shown that even a fake smile (with all smile muscles, including eyes, involved) can actually produce the brain chemicals that induce joy. A real smile (induced by a happy memory or thought) can be even more poweful in that respect. And that's just upon the smiler! To see the effects of a smile on other people, try offering a genuine one to strangers in public. You'll only see the tip of the iceberg, but the effects are wonderful. (I know that my whole day has been changed for the positive by a smile from a stranger.) |
