Default The great personal restart

Some people experience a huge restart in their life. By this I mean, what feels like a kind of rebirth. An old false personality of misunderstandings, confusion, frustration, outworn beliefs, negative emotions is left behind - like a big wad of dark, icky stuff! Doesn't mean you will never have to deal with frustrations, feelings of limitation, passing negative moods, etc ever again - but you're stronger and more able to deal with these.

For me, this restart happened to a certain extent gradually, but at a certain point in my life it happened emphatically when I got attuned to Reiki. A couple of aspects were improved relations with people, and being more competent with things I'd previously been somewhat good at. And a more adventurous spirit about trying new things, acquiring new skills.

I've know some other people for whom it happened by taking an auspicious and effective trip on LSD or some other entheogen.

Have you experienced a restart. If you have, how did it happen? what was it like for you?

I went through a short period of my life where I was constantly doing this. Every insight I gleaned from the universe, I threw away. I walked through the world with no identity and no purpose. While the state lasted, it was wonderful, at least compared to the state I'd escaped from.

I couldn't maintain it, so eventually I created a purpose for myself and made it happen. It it immediately lowered the quality of my life, but eventually I got a hold of what made that state so special, and re-integrated it into my life. Now I operate with a strange mix of knowing and unknowing.

It's happening to me these days due to reiki as well. If you really wanna know what it feels like, it feels like sexual intercourse on a non-physical level as the old dirt is cleansed. Not sure if you experienced that yourself with reiki. But very pleasurable.

I feel that a lot of people are going through rebirth cycles this period. It's just that a lot of them don't realize it, but people are starting to realize that their old way of thinking no longer "works" and that it is time to move on new possibilities and extended thought patterns.

It wouldn't be the first simile that would come to mind for me. I mean, I can relate to the change as a release... so I can sort of see what you mean, maybe.

I felt more like a horse that had previously had a heavy rider - and now the horse was without both rider and saddle, and felt very free.

But there sure was a sweetness in the feeling of the aftermath. That sweetness was something I felt for months after my attunement. In fact, it's something that I strongly associate with Reiki. A mellow sweetness to the experience of living.

It's like when Doctor Who regenerates. Same Doctor, same memories and knowledge, different actor, different writers, different Tardis. (Yes, I am a nerd; that's one thing that did NOT change in my transformation; in fact, I think it became some what more pronounced because I really started to embrace it ).

That's true for me as far as the "rebuilding" phase, but the "tearing down" phase was extremely dramatic. Lost everything I thought was important, materially and personally, ended up in the looney bin for a little while (perfectly sane now, by the way!). Split from my then-husband, my parents, it was ultra-drama of a metaphysical-opera quality.

I don't recommend that, by the way. It was extremely effective, but to call it disruptive is an understatement. It's like remodelling your entire house, wiring, walls, plumbing, roof, the lot, while you're still living in it.

The thing that started my transformation was hitting a point of rock bottom, and a prayer for transformation. Essentially, a sincere intention. It didn't take long before my external circumstances started to change, and it snowballed from there.

Sincere intention is extremely powerful.

Is there a point where it slows down? LOL, I feel like I've been destroying and rebuilding for... years, now. I'd like to have some semblance of stability at some point.

We are in a period of cosmic upheaval and unfortunately 2012 is likely to be more of the same. Perhaps worth listening to REM's "It is the end of the world as we know it ... and I feel fine". Hang in there, we have almost made it.

We can call it many different names but when the wheels fall off in this manner they tend to stay off, if the experience is abiding in nature.
Life as it was nose dives and never resurfaces the same.
I have experienced insights with LSD but never permanent change. More like swimming with water wings.
Peoples experiences and interactions vary but one thing in common is that the crack in the veil widens enough to let in the light and the light changes everything.

Yes. And then you have to learn how to travel by other means to get where you want to go. Can be a challenge.

This pretty much to "T" minus the having a purpose and making it happen. I'm currently in the organizing the pieces of the aftermath stage, though it appears I am getting a plan and things back in order. Definitely understand the mix of knowing and unknowing though. Working on that re-integration you mentioned.

LSD. Did it a couple times, did mushrooms more - but got through the whole drug exploration phase of my life in about 3-4 years. Unusual, incredible and beautiful experiences during that time. But my personal condition or conditioning, plus the weight of life circumstances, dragged me down and closed off a lot of the awareness of the divine process.

I've written about my view of the entheogens as a partial path (post #14). On the other hand, I've met a few people (out of hundreds, maybe thousands) who have used them and maybe got something more lasting from the re-boot of their LSD experiences. But I don't recommend psychedelic drugs, myself.

Another point: Getting rid of the false personality consisting of social condition and old emotional baggage is a new start. But Self realization (realization of the divine reality) is a path of many stages, stetching way out in front of every being.

I agree. I would never recommend using drugs as a way to higher awareness. However I can't deny that people have used them as a spring board for their own spiritual pursuits. As stated I view LSD as like swimming with water wings....you gets to experience swimming for a while but not through your own ability to swim.....
