I just thought we should brainstorm some ideas for where we, as a community, are heading. Whilst I know we all have different ideas and beliefs about what is the right way to live. I think with such a large community eventually everything merges into the one goal. To Grow. Each one of us just strives to grow further and further, idefatigably, unequivocally, unabashedly. We all strive for the inexorable goal that is The Truth. I think that such a powerful engine of growth, set going as it has been, cannot simply stop, or turn around, I think we are all going to eventually get a long way towards our collective goal and each of our goals specifically. However I wanted to know peoples ideas for the future. It will have no bearing most likely on the ultimate pathway. But hell...it will be good to see what people want out of the forum, maybe Steve and Erin care to share their hopes and plans?

| This is something I am struggling with right now. I am trying to focus on/live in the present but am worried this is causing inaction/apathy. I think the worry is because I haven't figured out a career path/interest and am close to graduating college. Any advice?

I'm in the process of manifesting a life goal of mine, intermixed, of course, with the daily living, and minor goals. I'm makeing great strides in attaining my place to retire, and live out my life, in a fashion I like. But my ultimate goal was to have something substantial to leave to my children, that is more than enough to change the standard of their living conditions. 1. I have acquired 136 acer goat ranch, w/a sizable herd of goats. I own it, free, and clear. No payments. Valued at over 1/2 million dollars. 2. I'm making great strides in being debt-free. My overall debt has been rediced to $12,000. dollars, and more is being paid off in big chunks. 3. I have a 250,000. life insurance policy, with one company, and a $10,000. life insurance policy w/another, divided with my kids, my husband and my sister, equally. 4.Our cars are paid off, and in very good working order. Hubby is a great machanic. 5. My husband and I have good health insurance that also pays while we are unable to work. Also covers dental, and vision. 6. We have been managing to save over $4,000. a year, and at the end of a year, we take that lump, and pay another det off, so soon, we will be debt-free, and will be able to just sock that money away in some type of savings. In 10 years time, we will be able to have a cash nestegg of over $40,000. not even counting the interest it will have accumulated over time. 7. I live in a house that I co-own with 2 other people, but they don't live here. It's paid for, and all I have to do is pay the utilitis etc... 8. We do plan to have a house built at some point, but we wanted to clear the path of other finacial obligations first, so to lay a better foundation for that happeneing, with more Freedom, and Ease, when we make that move. 9. Come Jan. 2008, I'll be able to join my companies 401K plan. I plan to max it, and in 10 years time, retire. That's the plan anyway. As a group, or as part of the community of this forum, I'm open to good suggestions. |

Akashic_Librarian… it think that you have answered your own question when you said: Quote:
More contribution by the members is the obvious answer to that question… and, I feel that one way of getting more contribution is by acknowledging the dedicated members who offer meaningful posts… When anyone read a good post… why not take a minute to congratulate that poster and express gratitude for it…??? It would only take a very small effort and it would have a considerable impact on both the amount of good posts being posted as well as in the quality of those posts… . | |
