Question Difference between consciousness and awareness

I have a hard time comprehending these two words. This is what I know so far.

Consciousness is the container which encompasses my ego, mind, being/real self, physical body. Awareness is what I immediately perceive in my surrounding (or within)?? Help!!

Hmmm, there's no real hard and fast definition when it comes to those words. Words (generally) define concepts, and concepts define experiences. My advice would be to take in a number of definitions by reading/listening to media that makes use of the words so that you can then determine the meaning for yourself based on what you are listening to.

In what context are the words being used by, and who is using them? Steve? Erin? The author of a book you’ve read? The Leprechaun on your shoulder that tells you to burn things? None of the above?

Consciousness is mind, spirit, all that is.

Awareness is what you are aware of, what you have learned, your perception of things, your understanding and knowledge.

This is my ultimate definitions of the two terms and the difference of each.

Awareness is what consciousness can sense for having an experience.

Consciousness is the experience of awareness.

....but irrespective of whether I experience awareness or not, consciousness is always there - omnipresent. As MindReality says it is "all that is". Am I Right???

"Consciousness is the experience of awareness."

The experience of awareness is only possible with consciousness. And that consciousness is "all that is".

Does consciousness exist without awareness? Is that what you are asking? I'd say they come together, mutually arising. As soon as you are aware, that's consciousness having an experience. Consciousness exists by being aware. Being aware is an experience. Consciousness is that which seeks awareness and becomes out of finding awareness.

Well, if I read what I wrote, I'd say, ha? I wonder if it makes any sense at all.

So which means that if I am not aware, then I am not conscious. Well I should be conscious all the time because I am aware of myself. Right??......unless I am sleeping. I guess I am still conscious then because my-"self" is still there though I am not aware of it.

Any thoughts??

I agree with wolfgang consciousness is to be aware. consciousness is to be aware of your environment and/or self. ask yourself this when you are starving your brain will automatically filter only information that you need to survive(you need food) are you still aware/consciousness when your brain takes control like that?

Consciousness is always there whether you are conscious or not.

The area where you are conscious of is your Awareness Consciousness.

Read this article to know how your Awareness Consciousness can transverse the different aspects of your consciousness from the conscious, the subconscious to the superconscious.

Conscious, Subconscious and Superconscious are One

But it's not my consciousness unless I am the one having conscious moments. Consciousness always being there without my consciousness is different than my awareness of being consciousness.

That's a difficult sentence to read, I think there's a grammer mistake. The fragment: 'you are conscious of' has a dangling preposition.
