We on this forum are similar types

It occurred to me that we on the SP forums are more similar to each other than we are to the rest of the people out there in the world. However, we seem often to accentuate the differences between each other in the discussions. But in the bigger picture our differences are with the majority of people out there in the world who wouldn't know the first thing about the fact that we are even having these discussions. Perhaps we feel this difference to other people in the outer world and we carry that feeling of difference over here and replicate it.

I'm not saying much more than it seems a bit daft in someways having all this disagreement and so on when the people we are more radically inconcurrent with are out there in the world. Put it this way: if we can't come along together here then what hope is there for us out there?

I see it does happen the forums sometimes, that we act as allies rather than foes. Perhaps I have lost sight of what 'I really need' which is help to deal with a social world that I feel estranged from, rather than, say, fine tune and test my everchanging obscure outlook on life.

I know what you mean. I agree with that as well. But perhaps from a another valid perspective, the people on these forums are a fairly homogenous minority, one that we generally don't encounter out there in the world day-to-day. Or at least, the sorts of discussions we have here are not ones we have out there day-to-day.

I know this isn't completely true, but just a different way, for me, at least, to see the community here in its relation to people that are not here and who arn't interested in what we're talking about.

It seems to me that one of the prime purposes on this forum is to help one another. Although we are somewhat homologous, we are different in many ways. Even the legs on dung beetles are different.

The forum members are alike in being willing to discuss things with an open mind. Beyond an open mind I think there some major differences. There are big differences in ages and belief systems , and dont forget the "post and split people" . The " I have a demon , or ghost bugging me " That we will never know what happned to . desert rat
