Spiritual/Emotional Healing?

I'll try and keep this short. LOL

I'm wondering if I'm experiencing some sort of spiritual and/or emotional healing or rejuvenation of some sort, and whether or not it is due to where I live now. Basically my life was a wreck for a couple years before I moved here to Kaua'i, climaxing just a few months before I moved here. Long story short, I was depressed, feeling alone and isolated, drinking myself retarded all the time, having financial problems, feeling angry and betrayed (I had a friend royally screw me over and I was homeless for over a month (but I slept on friend's couches)), etc. Then I moved here and everything changed for the better. I stopped drinking, quit smoking, started making money again, my depression went away and I stopped taking my Celexa (prescribed, I wasn't self medicating), and I started feeling better about everything. So, everything is great and I'm happier than ever now.

Last week I noticed that I was feeling a bit of a serotonin or dopamine kick in my brain. It feels like I have increased levels of neurotransmitters, just how it felt when I first started taking Celexa a couple years ago. I thought it was a little strange since I don't take any meds for anything, and I don't use any recreational drugs ever, so it's definitely not a drug related effect. I'm not complaining about it, but I'm just curious what is causing it.

Now for the spiritual stuff. I've never been religious or anything, or even been interested in spirituality much, a little here and there but nothing too serious... Anyway some people say that there is a spirit on this island and it'll either embrace you or make you want to leave if you don't harmonize with its energy or aren't a good person. I was told the name of the spirit once but I can't remember its name, or whether it's male or female energy. I did some Googling but couldn't find anything. So I'm just wondering if the reason I'm feeling so good is because of this or what... I really feel at home here and for the first time in my life I actually feel like I have a lot to look forward to.

Just a side note, here is an excerpt from an article that explains Aloha. They say "Kauai's aloha spirit" but aloha means the same thing on all the islands, just fyi.

Quote:

Kauai is like a journey back in time, when smiles came easy and politeness prevailed. This spirit of loving brotherhood is ALOHA --where 'A' means akahai, kindness; 'L,' lokahi, unity; 'O,' olu'olu, agreeableness; 'H,' ha'aha'a, humility and 'A,' ahonui, patience --this is the meaning of Kauai's "aloha spirit.

To respond to the spiritual stuff. I have actually felt the same way. I am in WI and there's no spirit here that I know of. The minute I got to Madison, I felt at home here. Since I"ve moved here, life has gotten a lot better for me.

I just wonder if you are in the place where you need to be, you are content and the universe is just responding to that.
