Default Entering the dream world in a lucid state

Okay I'm trying to hone in on my lucid dreaming skills, it's something I've wanted to do for a while and have had experiences of it in the past but haven't done so for months up until last week.

It's been since I've started doing my MBO's andthinking in the positive manner that I wish to have a lucid dream and have now had my third experience in about 6 days. The first two experiences were very very brief and I think I awoke from the lucid state, or went back into dream mode out of excitement and not actually understanding how to control it.

Last night was a bit different, I did a little bit of research online and saw that there was a technique to controlling your dream and keeping yourself in that state when you start to feel the dream fading away from you, and that was to start spinning around and visualise or say what you want to happen. As my girlfriend is abroad and we don't get to see each other too often I ended up visualising her and spent some good quality time together in my dream lol.

How many people are frequent lucid dreamers and are able to do so at will? I know it's dependant on each person but how long did it take you to master this skill?

And I suppose what do you do in your lucid dreams? There must be so much to do that I haven't even contemplated and from a "personal development" point of view I would like to know how I can use my lucid dreams to better myself and increase my knowledge, skills or anything else related. What else is there that can be achieved in dreams?

It would be good if you can give some tips from on how to enhance the experience and put it to great use

I experienced lucid dreaming quite a lot when I was a teenager. I had a recurring nightmare that I was running from some danger but I was running in mud and the danger was catching up. One day my dreaming mind just recognized the pattern and I woke up within the dream. Well, I used my 'awakened state' to chase girls, but to my surprise I always woke up just when things got interesting.

Hope you will manage to use your lucid dreams for more 'enlightened' dream activities. Happy dreaming,

Zeitgeist

Magura, the purpose is to be able to control your dream and have a much more pleasant experience I presume

Zeitgeist, funny you should say that, I'm pretty much the same when it comes to my lucid dreaming lol it's like that's the only thought on my mind. I once used a lucid dream to have a threesome lol

Can you use lucid dreams for spiritual development?

I've only been able to have a couple unstable ones so I don't know.

Part of a course I'm doing right now is implementing consistent reality tests and I'm wondering what I'd even do if I got control of one. All I can think of is: sex, super powers, explore scenery, face fears, try to experience God/Love somehow.

I found a "magic" mix to induce lucid dreaming! A glass of warm milk and bananas before bedtime (it contains melatonin that is said to induce "very lucid/vivid dreams" ) ... it works for me at lest .. every time. I have never entered a dream fully lucid but usually after drinking and eating that stuff I tend to get a very high awareness well inside the dream world witch sooner or later leads me to a having a lucid dream.

Mostly I try to "find" my novel characters in there to get to know them in person ... but it is rather hard to have them appear as i'm not 100% sure of how they look like :/
I've also tried to meet my spirit guides in there .. but it is tricky >.>
Them dream characters aren't very talkative sometimes, and they might deceive you a lot too >:C

you can also try to dive into this forum as it has a lot of people that are experts at lucid dreaming Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource

I think I found the bananas and milk thing at Dreamviews, and I'm pretty sure I've had a lucid dream every time i used it. I cant give you a number on how often I lucid dream, but I have at least one SUPER vivid dream once every month without the milk and banana :P

It might also help you to keep a dream journal to record and easier remember your dreams.

I've had lucid dreams, however, I wasn't able to have them at will. I like to listen to isochronic tones before I go to sleep, not sure if this makes a difference but since I have started using the tones I have had lucid dreams and OBEs.

Zeitgeist: Lucid dream... OBE... once you are lucid you will (with nearly 100% probability) pursue something you want to try and you can't while in physical world (at least when you start to have lucid dreams or an OBE). So much for chasing girls... And you can't reach interesting moments because you are very aroused and not concentrated. For example with same conditions I can go all the way right to climax, but then it is over and I'm out. While it is quite pleasant, I'm more interested in travelling and discovering while I'm there. Therefore it is not very desirable to pursue that activities. But there is interesting point. Maybe I have to try it more and try to train my concentration while doing that activities and try to stay concentrated even during climax and so to stay in lucid dream or an OBE even after sexual intercourse

One is of course fun. You can have any dream you want. For me, another interesting aspect is you can directly talk to your subconscious. If a dream is complicated, you can stop and ask, what does this mean?

Of course, I have never done it. I still have some way to go.

When I first started having lucid dreams sex was a very common theme. There came a point though when once I realized it was 100% available it became less significant. I then moved onto other supernatural things like flying and teleporting and jumping into mirrors to see where they take me. Eventually that got old to and I would just sit there in a dream world for a while, wondering what to do. I eventually felt like I had done everything I could imagine. Like I had experienced everything I could ever want to experience and wasn't sure what to do next.

At the moment what still remains for me is the conversational aspect. I can call anyone I know in real life and they will join me in the dream. They may or may not answer me depending on what I ask, but it feels like a fun way to get to know people better. I find it especially valuable if there is someone that I feel is conflicting with me in someway. I find if I can resolve this conflict in the dream it will be resolved when I am awake too.

One thing that I have often tried and failed was to find a dream teacher that could teach me about anything I want to learn, including how to lucid dream more effectively. I'm lucky to get any response and if I get anyone it's someone who looks like a teacher but they don't teach me anything new. Though a fun interaction for me would be when I call a "Spirit Guide" and a dog tends to show up just before I finish calling. He's quick. And he can speak to me without words, as if he thinks right into my head.

I am a very skilled lucid dreamer. It took me 1-2 years to be able to alter (control) things (includes extending or terminating specific dream). During the same period I learned to invoke the watcher (fly on the wall view with separate conscious awareness). It took another year or so to be able bring information out of dreams (even through false awakenings). After ~ 5 years, I was able to invoke the watcher while awake. I have never been able to enter a joint dream (with other dreamers).

I rarely just lucid dream to play anymore, like most people I got bored with that. I become lucid several nights a week to examine symbolic dreams for clues about my life.

A technical note: most people enter the dream world first and then become lucid. It is possible to do it as you title suggests but this is much harder.
