Anyone here over 18 and still have imaginary friends? I'm almost 20 years old and I still have imaginary "friends." I see them vividly in my imagination (which I call my mind's eye) and I spend a lot of time interacting with them, playing out scenarios, getting to know them and having them assist me in my life's path. It's like they have a mind of their own but These characters have been with me for years (since childhood) and I feel like one of them is somewhat of my higher self or "the ideal me". She's the person I've envisioned for as long as I can remember and for as long as I can see. She's helped me deal with situations that were troubling and it's odd because often times I feel these characters really are real! I cry with them, laugh with them...I've been caught in a trance-like state as they told me different things about my own life and helped me deal with pains and love and joy by playing out thought provoking scenarios to my life, etc since my childhood! It was one of the reasons why I never EVER felt alone even when I was! This is really interesting to me. I was just reading something somewhere that said that these imaginary friends may very well be real, guides, higher self, etc. What do you guys think? |

Sounds to me like they might be your spirit guides. If you've got as close of a relationship as you say have with them, why not try simply asking "who" they are? I'd be shocked if they don't give you an answer.

They sound like spirit guides to me too. Doncha worry, you're not alone at all-I've got 5 and 4 of them are talking animals. There are many people quite older than you around here who have guides-and probably they're talking animals or something as crazy-looking too Psychic ¶normal section would be a good shot if you want to ask details. Thanks all. I didn't know if other people had imaginary friends too. I don't see them outside of me but they're "in my head". Kind of like a fantasy life or a daydream. I know I have a guardian angel (which I'm guessing is a sort of spirit guide) but I didn't know if I had to have a certain vibration level for that. That's what I've been told. I thought I had to work at it to bring it up... |

I've never had any guide experiences that I'm aware of, but at times I've liked to indulge the notion, real or not, that I've got a "bodyguard" My last imaginary friend, fading away in late childhood, took the form - get ready to chuckle - of a cartoon molar with a bowtie. I must have spotted this character at some time, as I've seen the motif since, and decided it'd make a neat template... Last edited by Wax Frog; 01-29-2011 at 01:46 AM. |

| Oh my God I think I'd be scared! lol But yeah we do play. One character is like, "the ideal me" or my "higher self". She's who I aspire to be and it's not at all improbable that I can be her one day (because in a nutshell, I am her). The others are like friends who I communicate with (male and female) and we just really interact and have a good time. Meh...that's how I explain it. |

lol WaxFrog, bowtie?? Really?? That cracked me up Now I come to think of it, at my 5 I used to imagine the pink panther (the cartoon) hiding behind my door, ready to jump out. It freaked me out Quote: I have played games 1-2 times with my guides, but in a much less disgraceful tone | |

| Yep! I guess giving my pal a cute appearance was something I needed at the time. Any kid going through a combo of panic attacks and bullying needs all the smiles he can get! I couldn't find the pic I wanted, but this is close: ![]() BTW, I never "saw" him externally, he did all his advice-giving and reassuring on the "projection screen" in my head Quote:

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Even though I'm quite a few years under 18. My friends are Celeste the Black, yellow-eyed cat and Balto the Wolf-Dog, Hero of Nome. They are both cartoonish, but still very much like their real-life counterparts. I actually believe Celeste to be a Spirit Guide, for I have had 3 dreams of her, and have had strange occurrences with a small figure of her that I own. Balto acts as a protector, and growls whenever someone I dislike comes near. It's quite cute actually. But I'm glad I'm not the only one like this. |
