Finding purpose in my life? I am having trouble in my life finding a purpose. I am in my mid-20's and right now barely have enough motivation to get out of bed. I just can't see a reason for everything. I can't find a purpose for myself and this makes me question why i am trying hard to do anything. i end up wasting a lot of time. I have goals, things i would like to achieve. The problem is the lack of a purpose makes me lose motivation to pursue the goals i have. What things have you done to help you find a purpose for your life? |
There is too much importance put on trying to discover the one main reason your here I don't think there is one only true purpose. In fact this whole one purpose thing is just silly. You're a powerful conscious being having an adventure in a physical reality, why limit yourself? You've got goals, what are they? why do they have to be linked to some kind of major reason for being here. Get out there and have some fun, forget the need for a one single purpose, just start acting on your desires and things you find interesting. You're 25ish for godness sake, you talk like you're 98 years old and feel like you're wasted your life. Don't be so focused on true calling, you'll get there when you start moving towards some goals, some will work, some won't, just get busy. Motivation to get out of bed isn't about wondering why you're here and why bother, you're in the game, so start interacting with it, everything's connected, you'll find a way, just get started, make mistakes, make BIG mistakes, have fun! I used to always wonder why I was here, what was my life purpose, I couldn't figure it out. I realised all the time I was spending thinking about it, I was missing out on all sorts of cool stuff. I still don't know why I'm really here, I think you get that real answer when you leave, but it's fun to try lots of different things along the way. HTH:D Jeff |
Hi xnez, I can relate to where you are because I am just now coming out of the tail end of a difficult period of adjustment and negativity. I agree with Jeff that there is too much focus on finding one purpose in life - be that one idea, or one master goal. The most important thing I ever did with regard to finding my purpose was to froget about other peoples definitions of purpose and their beliefs around purpose (even Steve's). When I did this I began thinking about what my purpose would feel like - not what it was or what it would be, what it would feel like to have this purpose... I found that mt purpose would make me feel peaceful and energised at the same time, very still yet with a great reservoir of possibility. I came up with three things which are my purpose... they all make me feel this way. They are synergistic, and they can be applied or cultivated seperately, giving my a braod range of ays to serve my purpose... So, my advice to you would be to think about how your purpose is going to make you feel (which will hopefully make you feel better anyway) and then to start looking for things in your life that make you feel that way. Reply or PM me if I can help in any other way... J |

So once I made this commitment I had to stretch myself and step out of my comfort zone. *KEY* Decision + Action = Results You're asking for assistance and the question for you: I'm willing to take action? I did just that! One day I waken from a nap and the title and summary of a story was in my head. My friend said write a book. I thought to myself that I wasn't a writer. But for just 2 to 5 minutes I debated with my inner voice, I got up because I was determined to find my purpose. That very day I begin to write. Within 4 to 5 months I'd completed a novel. I found a love and this love blossomed into apparel, as well as into a brand with a mission to unleashing the dream with others. You have do something each day. Just ask. I did, I asked myself one day why I was here, and I got a response. After hearing it I realized that I already knew this, I had just forgotten. But do not put your life on hold while you wait for the answer - get out there. A good friend of mine is in his 40s and still has no idea what his purpose is, but he has accomplished so much. |
