BELIEF STRUCTURES- a divine assignment r.andrew stokes There are very few among us that once denied the existence of Santa Claus: the facts seemed everywhere, and the evidence piled up every year. Besides; all that we trusted ASSURED us that Santa was real. Then came the day when Santa was put to the test, and questions arose. Some of us wandered off into the unfamiliar in order to seek the truth. Others gravitated toward those friends who reinforced the belief. Eventually, we all stumbled upon the sad truth. We did so at our own pace, and by means of our own understanding. This event took us into our teen years with an eye out for suspicious behavior, and the smart among us never gave up the quest for true knowledge. We were nonetheless ingrained with a receptor in our minds to accept feel-good things unconditionally. While our eyes were on guard for the suspicious and obvious, the subtle and sublime had an open door in which to waltz through and set up shop. And set up shop it did. Into our adult years, these beliefs…whether right or wrong…became our navigational equipment, steering us toward ill-matched spouses, addictions and cults. Occasionally we fought for the beliefs, and sometimes the challenges they faced proved them just as erroneous as Santa Claus. Some of them we held onto even as the ship sank. But if you’re reading this, you survived these events. And you are wiser for the experience. Nothing was lost. Not even your innocence. The Creator…whatever your understanding of It is…assigned you to build this belief structure. In infinite ways, creating, living, then dismantling belief structures is one of the best learning experiences the eternal souls can have, though it is a grueling process. When all has failed you, and you begin to look at the little sparkly beliefs, you start to understand that while they appear small, they have dictated much of the behavior you’ve come to bemoan. There’s a whole predictable linear process of anger, depression and the likes when we see how miserably our beliefs have let us down. But as you begin to dismantle the whole sordid affair, you begin to discover some amazing truths. This first pile of wreckage is very difficult for anyone to start sorting through, but most of us do, and soon enough, the process becomes very educational. On a good day, we can even laugh at our mistakes…this is the beginning of self-acceptance. And in this little gem of an idea is born the understanding of our fellow humans, and THEIR foibles. Pretty soon, we’re practicing tolerance and acceptance, and by golly: the wreckage moves to the side and we see the Light we’d been looking for. It is essential for each of us to KNOW that EVERYONE has a funny-looking belief structure, and few are willing to admit it. It is when we begin to admit erroneous beliefs are just that, that we have the power to dismiss them from use. We never forget them, but we discontinue their usage. And when we SHARE these learning processes, we are giving of ourselves the gift of learning. Often to those still too afraid to appear “foolish to the crowd”, as the I-Ching states. The crowd still waits for Santa Claus. Do you remember your childhood friend that helped you talk through the Santa Claus conspiracy? How you shared the discovery of the lie? Perhaps during a sleep-over, flashlight under the giggly covers, it was a relief to have this friend to share your suspicions, and validate your faith that someone else understands, and saw the same thing. I don’t have the authority to tell you God instructed us to build belief systems, but I can SHARE the experience God gave me, and part of that experience is in the dismantling of my belief structure, and what I learned from it. | In the above illustration, we can ponder how this mess came about. Some immediate observations are: one wire at a time. But as is clearly seen, it at some point became unmanageable. For some reason, haste prompted the “temporary” wiring which, at some point, became permanent. As funny and complex as it looks, this is a PERFECT picture of the average belief structure. An interesting comparison to today’s technology is the use of wireless electronics. The above structure is obsolete, even though someone spent countless hours working it into its present state. That person is probably not willing to let go of so much work and effort. Such is the belief system of humanity. __________________________________________________ _____ The starting point of dismantling your belief structure is in the admitting it no longer serves you. That you’ve come to realize it has so many flaws, and leads in so many circles, it has wrapped itself around you like a spiders’ web. Indeed, the Creator is amused how we end up in our own traps. But the Creator gazes with Love and Care, and is readily available to assist you in dismantling the mess you created. So most of us take the first step: we will do this on OUR terms. That’s the blue wire that goes over to box C3347-a junction#22. OUR terms. In other words, we’ll use our belief structure to dismantle the belief structure. There’s one problem with this brilliant idea: We wired C3347-b to the alarm system that sounds if any attempt is made to tamper with our belief system. We did this the day we made the sign “DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THESE WIRES”. Lesson #1 becomes apparent: we cannot dismantle our own belief systems without some outside help. This sets off alarm system V-M37S-b…refuse to surrender. “Surrender” prompts the self-determined will of the ego, which is the supposed electricity running through most of those wires. What to do? Here’s what I did: I kept running the system, adding wires and jumper cables and just about anything I could do to PROVE this mess was functional. THAT brilliant idea (the little light bulb on box-c7890-H-143) was short-circuited by this undeniable fact: you’re not going to move this structure out of the ROOM, much less through eternity. A phone call to Bill Gates assures us that we can scale down SOME of the wiring, and a few of them are safe to disconnect. WHEW! We can KEEP our belief system. We go out and buy components to replace old ones, and we chum with other people whose wiring is at LEAST as tangled as ours’; this assures us the system is okay. Thanks, God, for the offer, but the temporary relief lulls me into believing I’ll be okay with my new and improved belief system. Totally redesigned for 2011!! New leather seats! REAL copper wiring! Cup holders! But over time I began to see clearly how one thought was being protected because it appeared to justify another thought…which, in reality, it did not; I was subscribing to my own illusion. WHOA: what’s that? I LIED TO MYSELF!? NOT POSSIBLE: this is the best belief structure money can buy! But the MONEY was contingent on OTHER belief structures. Downloading ByPass4902-c-11 from the internet glossed over lots of these facts, and the structure ran better, I believed. I HAD to believe: I’ve staked everything I’ve GOT to make this structure impervious to logic. Then, logic paid a visit. Boy; was I scared. Logic validated much of what I thought I knew, and therefore now KNEW it, but it wasn’t MY knowing that knew…hey, wait a minute - these wires got crossed #$@%!*I ASKED YOU NOT TO TOUCH THEM! OHHhhhhh….. The beginning point of exchanging your belief structure for universal knowledge arrives upon your admitting…at least to yourself…that you knew all long you had to lie to yourself in order to make this belief structure serve you…which it didn’t; you served it. As you start to examine each and every one of those wires, how they’re connected and WHY, a warm smile will start to fill your heart: I’m so damned SILLY! Then you start finding Divine influences, and your Higher Power is in on the joke with you: you’re not responsible for some of those influences you acted upon. Why, God? Why did you do this? How else could I get you to see? This contraption has every conceivable device to attempt self-sufficiency except for the most Important component of all: a connection to the universe you feed off of. We run into the Belief Room, because we’re sure we filed an answer to this somewhere, but eventually we get tired of running. We WANT the wireless system. I’ve HAD it, God, with the constant patching, downloads, criticisms, ad infinatism rigormortis I JUST QUIT. Good. Now: dismantle this thing with Me by your side, and let’s have a look.
