Default Lucid Dreaming

Has anyone had any experience with lucid dreaming? I've just started experimenting and would like to hear other people's experiences. I've had modest success on rare occasions, but nothing I can call consistent.

I recently found a news report video on lucid dreaming and posted it on my website. It's video #51

You should check our Erin Pavlina's podcast on Lucid Dreaming, it has basically all you need to know.

Man I really want to master Lucid Dreaming. Sounds like an awesome way to improve some of the deep subconscious stuff that's so hard to get at. Gotta get some other stuff worked out first though.

I have lucid dreams every once in a while. I have found that they most frequently come when I wake up and then immediately go back to sleep. That way I am partially conscious and I am also more likely to actually remember my dreams.

An important factor in lucid dreaming is being able to think critically. When I have lucid dreams, they always begin as regular dreams, but I am able to recognize an inconsistency with reality. For example, I had a dream where my girlfriend gave me the wrong time. She would never lie to me (at least about the time), so I shouted "you're lying!" and that's when I realized it was a dream and I floated away.

The only problem with lucid dreaming is that I have never been able to resist the urge to try to wake myself internally. This is the most frequent type of lucid dream that I have. I believe that there is something that is happening to me externally, which requires me to wake from my dream state. I do this when I arrive at work early and sleep by the elevator, waiting for someone with a key to come. I will dream that I hear nosies by my physical body, which indicates that I need to wake up. I also used to have dreams where I believe that I stopped breathing physically (when I lie on my stomach) and must wake myself up to breathe again. Even when I have lucid dreams that do not require action by my physical body, I my mind still tries to wake myself up.

ive had a few moments of lucid dreaming...soo cool!

i've been coming so close for a while

i've found an interesting trigger while in my dreams.. in all my dreams if i am running its always difficult, like running through water. so i try to use this as a trigger, by trying to run and if its difficult i can reason that i must be dreaming

i keep coming so close, but most times i take notice that something's 'off' but don't connect that to 'i must be dreaming'

I've only had a couple of lucid dreaming experiences -- they were short... but what seems to be the issue for me, is that as soon as I realize what is happening, I wake myself up. This happens to me during meditation too, when I am starting to hear my guides/angels/messages from my higher self, the second I realize what's happening, I lose it.

I'm still working on just letting it be.

Cool thing I've noticed about lucid dreaming is how I can stay in them, altho it took me a lot of experimenting to figure it out. It's possible, you just gotta not concentrate on the fact that you're in a bed lying down somewhere (that's guaranteed to wake you up ) -- basically, just focus on any part of the dream really hard. Really stare at it, really be in the moment with it, and just force the thoughts "oh i'm lying in a bed somewhere" out of your mind. Eventually I just "feel" the impending thoughts of being in a bed, just kinda fade away, and I feel much more "officially" in the dream, coz I'm enjoying the moment, not frantically trying to keep myself in it. Problem then is, actually staying lucid most of the time, after about a minute I forget I'm lucid, and go back into dream mode. hehehe.

It's like... you gotta find a balance between "being aware that you're dreaming" and "staying in the moment, and not thinking about the 'real life' outisde of the dream". I've never done meditation, but I suppose it'd be a hell of a lot easier being good at that
