| I find myself drawn to happy, vibrant, and positive people. A big part of the reason is that they are not judgmental, preachy, and have no need to feel morally superior to others. They also walk their talk instead of just doing drive-by sermons. A friend and I were both struck by this exchange between an audience member and Michael Beckwith and James Ray on the second Oprah show about The Secret. The audience member is stuck on judgment issues. The two exchanges begin at 7:50 and 13:00 Oprah Show Pay attention to everyone's body language, facial expressions, and energy as you watch. Who is walking their talk? I know which type of person I would much rather spend my time with.

I watched the video three times now, paying attention as much as I could, to both of the time periods you gave, even replaying them at those exact spots. I am not seeing what you and your friend saw. When I watched the video, I only got good feelings when I watched it. Could you please watch that video once more and let me know what is exactly said and then I will go back and watch it again. I don't know if it's just me being blinded by my gorgeously great mood as of late...as I just found this forum and watched The Secret DVD and I am feeling so alive and well right now.....or that I am just slow as usual to pick up on it. Thank you, Amanda |

The woman in the audience is fixated on judgment and punishment along fundamentalist lines. You can almost see this black cloud hanging over her head--permanently. I got the sense that her motivation for asking the questions was not to get an answer, but simply to let everyone know how righteous she is.

I love your comment 'am I just slow to pick up?' I think most people feel like that when they watch 'The Secret'. It's so obvious and simple 'how could we not have known that?' It is so simple that even after we've watched it and gone wow, we still forget to use it. We need to be reminded over and over until it becomes an integral part of our being. As human being I think we fear more the powerful beings we really are and readily accept our failings. Keep reminding, refreshing yourself that you are a co-creator of your life. Lallymac |

| I watched, too -- thanks for that link! I had the feeling that although the faithhead woman seemed closed off when she asked her question, by the end of the exchange she had a little smile on her face and it looked like one of acceptance and gratitude for an answer, rather than a smug righteousness. I can't tell what's inside by looking at the outside, but that's my impression. I very much liked the notion of "we're not Anticipants, we're Participants." |

What's far more interesting, is watching people like Beckwith and Ray. They exude joyfulness. Actions do speak louder than sermons.

| Okay, I watched it again.....take number 5....and here's what I got out of what she was expressing at that moment. I do believe that fundamentalists are very set in a ONE way of thinking...and while there are those that are self-righteous, there are those that fear their beliefs being considered all a lie, just because something may make it look like a lie. I believe she was in fear that everything she held true to how this universe relates to her God was a lie....just because the co-creation idea threatens this all supreme and ruling God...and for some they need to hold onto that type of God in order to feel safe and secure. I think that what she learned about The Secret scared her, because she felt another side of her waking up and didn't know logically how to process, but instead of understanding that the information was adding to her beliefs, her fear only allowed her to see the information taking away from her beliefs. But, once those guys cleared up her misunderstanding of what true co-creating is all about, that did strike a chord of relief and she was able to start relaxing.....and probably walked away from the show mulling everything over and now doing her best to practice everything she learned. I have faith in her to get it like we get it. I see it much like how some just jump in a lake without fear. But, others have to wet the toes first and slowly get in until they are submerged. She just needed the courage to get knee deep in that new thinking that day is all. And, that's okay, because everyone has their own time frame to work in and that's okay...as long as she reaches her destination....I am happy for her. |

| Hi Antiventurecapital. Thanks for this fantastic link. It offers lots of food for thought. One thing this video drives home for me is that many people are afraid of change, afraid of being flexible enough to expand on what they have been conditioned to believe. Not everyone knows how to step outside of their comfort zones. Beckwith clarified that the laws of attraction, and taking responsibility for life, are evidence of the presence of God. He pointed out The Secret doesn't contradict a spiritual path. Universal principals remind us that all choices have consequences and we are responsible and accountable for them. If we make choices that are loving and giving, this opens up our ever-expanding good. God is within us and we can create our own heaven or version of hell within. It's our choice to participate or cut ourselves off from a positive life. Our imagination creates the life we lead. Our attitude reinforces it. We can journal to better understand ourselves, and our actions will determine how life unfolds. If we choose only to listen to people who have very rigid ideas about God or anything else, this will limit our understanding. Last edited by Liara Covert : 02-28-2007 at 08:44 AM. |

| By their fruits you shall know them. If you want to tell me that you found god, don't act repressed and fearful. It won't be very convincing.

| Antiventurecapital, Not only am I drawn to positive people but I cannot be around negative, judgmental people for any length of time as they begin to have a very negative effect on my health - I literally begin to feel sick to my stomach. My throat has been known to start hurting. I find my chest feels constricted or I'll be short of breath. The thing is my mother is very much like this. This woman believes literally that she sits on the right hand of God, but her behavior and the things she says is FAR, FAR from that. I think that I am still holding anger inside against her. I only say this because despite my aversion to negative, judgemental people, they seem to be very attracted to me. I often get the, "Geeze, get a load of him" elbow, elbow, wink, wink - to which I often have to verbally let the person know how much I disapprove of that type of thinking. What do you think?

| You guys must be talking about the lady who was concerned that the Secret was not about Jesus. When I saw that I thought she was being all uppity as well. They probably asked her to speak to stir controversy. It would have been funny if someone on the panel had said, "well, as a matter of fact, what we're doing here is trying to draw people away from the Lord. By going around the Bible, our hope is to make the world think that they can have the good things in life without accepting the Lord as their personal savior. That's right, the easy way out. No Hell or Satan involved. Do whatever the heck you want, hurt people, destroy lives... it's all good baby." It would have been PERFECT if the rapture had happened right there. You've got the panel talking about the Secret, St. Oprah trying to educate the saved lady and then POOF! The lady disappears from the audience and everyone around freaks out. ..."we'll be--right back." Then after commercial everyone in the room has their heads bowed begging forgiveness for being filthy dirty apes. |
| |||
| Genuine question - is your post literally saying that you are expecting the rapture to actually happen, or are you ironically poking fun at the idea? I find it impossible to work out which it is. The drawback of this kind of forum is that you don't get the cues from tone of voice and body language. I am an atheist and I don't believe in the law of attraction, so I would be a good referee for this debate.
