Today i came across this very nice post about fear, it goes like this "There are three reasons. First, an excessive concern about one’s security. Next, what one does not know always gives an uneasy feeling which is translated into consciousness by fear. And above all, one doesn’t have the habit of a spontaneous trust in the divine. If you look into things sufficiently deeply, this is the true reason. There are people who do not even know that exists, but one could tell them in other words, “You have no faith in your destiny” or “You no nothing about grace” – anything whatever, you may put it as you like, but the root of the matter is the lack of trust. If one always had the feeling that it is the best that happen in all circumstances, one would not be afraid. Fear is the phenomenon of unconsciousness. It is kind of anguish that come from ignorance. One does not know the nature of a certain things, dose not know its effect or what will happen, does not know the consequences of one’s act, one does not know so many things; and this ignorance bring fear. One fears what one does not know. Take a child, if it is brought before someone it does not know (I am not speaking of a child with an awakened inner consciousness, I am speaking of an ordinary child), - you bring it before someone it does not know, its first movements will always be one of fear. It may also be a mixture......" You can find rest of the article from the original source:-Why Does One Feel Afraid? Definitely worth a read! and don't forget to share your views back here! cheers |

I am afraid of 1. judgement from other people, even when I know that they are misled 2. not meeting the definitions of success and expectations of other people / society 3. deadlines and procrastination 4. not doing something perfectly, more often according to the standards of other people The article does not explain the reason for these fear directly. And although I am in the process of letting go of these fear, I still hold them to myself as I am being periodically reminded by society that 'normal' people all have these fear and that these fear are pre-requisites for 'success'. |

Fear is the "lizard brain" (Thanks, Seth!), left over from when fear actually saved our lives. Now the stuff is useless, but it hasn't quite evolved away yet. I'm attempting to help it along. :P /<3 |

I actually have an entirely new view on fear. It's perfectly acceptable. Here's a particular metaprogram: In one pattern, people move towards a goal. In another pattern, people move away from pain. Now, wouldn't the second person sound as if they are fearful? I'm one of those people that moves away from things. I am not motivated unless there is potential pain. I tried moving towards things and it just doesn't work for me. Therefore I say, a little bit of fear is good! As a matter of fact, what I see a lot on this forum is fear of FEAR! Fear has become the scapegoat of personal development. Got a problem? Fear based. Something didn't go your way? Too much fear involved. Fear is a relic from the reptilian brain but it isn't useless, let alone the bane of our happiness. I would give those notions the old heave-ho. |

Sooner or later, everyone experiences fear. In fact, many people try to dodge around it by trying not to accept it. They will not go there and invent all sorts of excuses. So, what happens? The potential experience of fear is transformed into something else and emerges as something else - like a disease, or a desire to take drugs or alcohol - anything, rather than face up to it. The brave face up to fear and experience it head on. Feel the fear. Fear is the emotion you feel when you think something important will be taken away from you. Ask yourselves - what is really important? |

| Yes it does. One night stands are low-status, and only high-status folks get to reproduce with other high-status people. And you want to reproduce with high-status people, because they have more power, resources and have fitter genes on average than lower-status people.

Why is one night stand of low status? What if the person has more power, resources and fitter genes than average and is very good looking? | |
