Default If you imaginatively transplant John's left brain to James' right brain, who do u get

Science can't pinpoint the location of the brain that is responsible for consciousness, hence the hypothetical question.

And after the transplant, whose astral body is in whose physical body?

This question may be rather radical, but then, we are granted the gift of curiosity.

Default Brain Hemisphere Transplanting

Hmm that certainly is an intriguing hypothetical...I always thought the consciousness was contained within the gray or white matter mostly in the frontal lobe...just a gut feeling.

But I think the true answer lies in who has the dominant hemisphere, now the tricky part is if James' right hemisphere is his dominant, and John is dominantly left brained...what then? A battle of the superior consciousness, perchance?

Or what if we are all like this, and that is why we have conscious minds and subconscious minds? One one out and became the dominant conscious mind, while the other became submissive, yet spread out more fully to really run the show behind the scenes.

Man this is a tricky and extremely awesome thought provoking hypothetical...I actually just stumbled upon this by accident and decided to join thisforum specifically for this question! I love it. =)

I guess that it will be the same one consciousness that was in John, James.. and you. Mentally the personality and the sense of memory continuation may be mixed as from both.. and that may be the person it feels it is.

Reminds me of the movie The Prestige.

I don't think the consciousness resides in the brain at all. Consciousness is everything, everywhere in every cell of your being. All around you, where you know and where you don't. Individuated consciousness is associated or attached to ego which makes the body construct appear to be part of that certain consciousness.

Once ego is no longer a factor you are everything, everyone. Ego takes hold and places you in limited perspective inside the human energy field it has hold of.

So if you did any such transplant you would find nothing changed. Brains are so over rated.

Let me tell you about stuff, there was a straight A student I think in Sheffield, Uk. He went to his tutor and complained he had a headache, his tutor promptly sent him to the doctors, the doctors did an MRI, it turned out the man had little or no brain. His head was full of cerebrospinal fluid which had in effect shrunk his brain to the size of a walnut. Now the doctor was amazed that this guy was as intelligent as he was, IQ around 140, for he had no brain. This was also found in a janitor in the states, no brain but living a normal life.

This lead to theories from several famous people who's names allude me, that memories and consciousness and intelligence does not reside in the brain. The memories were part of a theory expressed by another scientist in that our memories long and short are in the vicinity around us and not stored in the brain. They are stored seperate from brain in the very interspaces of reality. Also intelligence clearly doesn't reside in the brain, hence consciousness can not. Interesting huh!

Body, heart, brain etc are not important they are just energy construct to make sense of this energy 3d world we reside in. They just proved identity to capsulate consciousness.

Although I think heart is the important factor in somethings, again not as a muscle, but as a place where consciousness likes to be or visit or can be amplified from, or perhaps that is our limited thinking at this time.

Toodles,

I agree with nic, consciousness is everywhere and the brain is a holographic receiver of information. "The Field" is a good book to read if you like this topic.

One interesting point is that according to Jill Bolte Taylor, a neuroanatomist, the left and right brains have different personalities.

And in 1988, Claire Sylvia received a heart and double-lung transplant. After the operation, she underwent some apparent personality changes; she had personalities of her organ donor.

Lol. That's a good one.

He keeps complaining about how much he wishes to have James' brain, so that he won't have to study and still score well.
