Hi, everyone! This is my first post... I read Power vs. Force when I asked my chiropractor to explain the science behind the weak/strong arm-testing she was doing on me. I wound up liking the book very much, and actually did feel that just by having read it, I had raised my own consciousness level up quite noticeably. This made me eager to read Hawkins following books. I am trying to read them all in order, so next was The Eye of the I. I liked this book even more than the first, and felt my consciousness raised even further for having done so. Currently, I'm about 3/4 through Truth vs. Falsehood, and I am now beginning to see a quite different Hawkins emerge. This book seems to be more about political propaganda than consciousness raising philosophy. Hawkins' repeatedly lists charts showing his calibrations of political ideologies and/or positions, and reading these it becomes quite obvious that the man is and has always been a Kool-aid drinking conservative. Personally, I label myself as a "left-leaning" independent, but I know how to step out of my own positions on issues and see both the flaws and strengths of both left and right political philosophies. Hawkins -- for all his claimed "enlightenment"-- does not yet seem able to quite remove himself from his attachment to conservatism. For example, when he lists calibrations of various political positions, he lists at least twice as many "varieties" of liberal thinking (Democrats, Liberals, far left, radical left, extreme left, socialism, etc) as he does conservatives (Republicans, Conservatives, far right). And in most all cases, the conservative positions calibrate significantly higher than their polar opposites in the liberal column; the only exception being extreme radical right, which calibrates below 200, but still higher than "extreme radical left." The preponderence of spin towards the right in this book, plus the aforementioned calibration of George W. Bush at 460, made me realize that, at best, Dr. Hawkins is a brilliant man who may or may not have become "enlightened," but has since fallen back to his old thinking in many respects. He has spent decades developing his system of applied kineseology, but it seems to me that his old beliefs are tainting the results he gets. In other words, a spiritual channel is a conduit of information from spiritual realms, but like any telephone, is only as good as its wiring. Truth from beyond coming through such channels is almost always changed and altered by the attitudes, experiences, and beliefs of the channel, and filtered thusly. How else could Hawkins be saying such profound things on one page, and on the next be assigning highly intergrous calibrations to the likes of Bill O'Reilly???! So with that in mind, I forge ahead with the works of David Hawkins, but realizing that this man is no "avatar" as of yet, and his opinions must be taken with a huge grain of salt. JA |

I agree completely. And yet many folks treat him as such. I found it interesting that he studied 1) with Lester Levenson, and took the Sedona Method classes very early on and 2) worked with Kenneth Wapnick, and studied ACIM. I knew when I read his first book that it was fabulous; except I also knew that the muscle testing was not infallable by any means. Neither is he. When he began to address politics, it just seemed to me that he had lost his perspective, and was playing in the duality for a bit. In my life, I've found the only truly infallable source is the living truth that shines through from within when I get my ego out of the way. Still, when I read books that lead me to that encounter, it is always such a blessing. Hawkins helped me hear that voice within more easily. Just my perspective.
