Default Question for Steve on drugs

Steve, I just read and reviewed The Harvard Psychedelic Club for my blog. A fascinating read on the growth of 60's drug taking counter culture lead by Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert (Ram Das).

In the post I felt compelled to admit I used to take drugs such as ecstasy and acid albeit a couple of decades ago. It would have been difficult explaining why I was so intrigued by this book otherwise.

Leary and Alpert used drugs such as psilocybin and then LSD to expand their consciousness and almost as a short cut to God. They believed that these kinds of drugs can have a hugely beneficial upside when used 'properly' if there can be such a thing.

My question to you as you have gotten more and more into new areas, is this something you have ever considered, or even done?

I know it's a tad risky blogging about it as you don't want the DEA kicking down your front door, but it seems to me it's about as 'out there' as you're going to get with personal development.

BTW, I suspect you were sent a book too, if so, I'd be interested on your take.

Psychedelic drugs have played a huge part in my personal development. I suspect it's mainly because I expected them to. I always went into a trip with the intention of growth and discovery, and I always experience some breakthrough. I remember one specific trip, where I actually experienced climbing through the levels of consciousness, all the way up to joy. That was about a week and a half before I learned about the L.O.C. hierarchy, so when I read Steve's article about it, I had about the biggest 'ah-ha' moment ever.
