Ether?

Can someone explain ether, please? I'm making an attempt to connect with my higher self and have read that she is in "ether". Please forgive me if the answer is already posted here somewhere..I did look first and couldn't find it. Thanks

ether, in my opinion, is like the word "ego." it is used to signify a lot of different ideas. in the context of what you describe, i would say if higher self is in the ether, that refers to the idea that your higher self is already near you but in a level of reality which is sort of intermingled with the ordinary one, only we sometimes have to shift our perspective to consciously connect with it.

there is a chance that atomic particles are also a manifestation of ether, and so in that sense ether is all around us, inside us, everywhere. but like atomic particles, it is more subtle than the 3d physical environment.

you can connect with her in meditation, from within you, because your form is made of ether too.

"Ether" is simply a word used by some people to refer to the "spirit world". It is non-physical in nature.

But then, what makes something "physical" to begin with?

The more you analyze this question, the more you will realize there isn't a great difference between the two. We have simply come to designate a certain type or "flavor" of energy expression as "physical" and a certain other type of energy expression as "non-physical".

For example, say you have a dream and it feels absolutely real -- indistinguishable from waking reality. Was that physical? Or was it non-physical?

It is simply a matter of definition and social convention. Humanity dreams the same dream and you have consensus "physical" reality. Everything is actually spirit or consciousness. All things are different manifestations of the same fundamental "something". Everything is one. Everything is composed of consciousness.

The difference I ascribe to the energy expressions of "physical" and "non-physical", is that the non-physical is the fundamental or base reality. Consciousness is inherently unquantifiable. But the expressions of consciousness ARE quantifiable, depending on how "objectified" they are. And by "objectified", I mean how many limitations have been imposed on it, as the energy of consciousness is inherently unlimited, but creation or expression is the result of limitations being temporarily imposed on that unlimited and intangible substance.

But to go back to your original question, connecting with your Higher Self is simply a matter of attuning your consciousness to the consciousness of your Higher Self.

The only thing stopping any "thing" from interacting with any other "thing" or even being that thing is how similar or different a given consciousness is from that thing.

So to interact with your Higher Self you need to become vibrationally compatible with the consciousness of your Higher Self. Because your Higher Self is simply you at a more advanced stage of spiritual development, communication is quite easy as you are already operating on "complimentary frequencies" so to speak. And your Higher Self is always communicating with you in the form of positive and negative emotion.

Your Higher Self does not allow itself to offer thoughts which restrict its connection with the Whole or Source. Therefore, whenever YOU offer thoughts that are negative/self-critical/derogatory, that negativity always distances you, spiritually, from your Higher Self. You experience this distancing as negative emotion. You feel bad in other words.

When you think thoughts that connect you with your Higher Self on the other hand, you will feel GOOD. Connection always feels good, and DISconnection always feels BAD. So you see, communication is always occurring between you and your Higher Self, its just not in words, usually (but it can be that way if you work at developing that).

Well I probably went overboard with my answer, but hopefully something there will help you.

Isn't Ether another word for the Etheric...which is the realm beyond our physical realm...i.e the world of Spirit!

I refer to the ether as ether because it doesn't have a religious connotation. it's the other side, the place your consciousness resided before you incarnated.
