We all (consciously or unconsciously) seek more peace of mind. What is the activity/mindset/meditation etc that makes you more peaceful in your daily life? For example, I personally practice Vichara, the technique of Self-Inquiry as taught by Ramana Maharshi. Every time I get in mental turmoil due to external events I decisively ask myself the question "Who Am I?", put my attention on my inner being (silence) and I begin to experience inner freedom. Or I try to detachedly "see" the thought that is nagging me until it fades away by itself. What's your method?

This lowly, simple and insignificant person practices pure awareness which is a state of consciousness where there is no duality. By being aware of the inner body, the immediate surroundings and the Divine at the same time, a sense of calmness envelopes all my senses. It is amazing, but I have also found out that any pain or discomfort, of any kind, disappears. I use little tricks like wearing a rubber band around my wrist to remind me to go back into pure awareness as often as possible. My mind and ego keep pulling me back into duality. You might say it's kind of a battle to stay in pure awareness but I'm getting better at it with practice. Pureawareness.info. Pure Awareness |

helping others, and seeing others help other aspects of Oneness owning emotions and accepting them noticing a desire to get involved in a debate, and deciding not to, brings me peace of mind. (sometimes i get more peace from participating, though explaining how this is might be tricky.) letting others live their lives instead of trying to force them to follow my own chosen path spending time in nature not following mainstream media but still finding ways to be informed expressing gratitude occasionally checking out channeled material communing with my guide team creating and maintaining sacred personal space great idea for a topic btw! |

I actually wrote an article about this a while ago, but essentially what gives me peace of mind is simplicity. Having less to worry about and doing everything I do with focus and deliberation.

Well for me, its mostly about simplicity of life, no need to stress, set goals and objectives, trying to get forward. If I feel that I need moment of peace, I would just sit down and take a deep breath. It's just life, everything is temporary and death will eventually catch everyone. Important thing for me is to remember that I am in charge of my own life and there is no need to rush it in a way or another. Everyday meditation works for me to clear of my mind and to refresh my values. Ultimately deep meditation is also the place where I go to look for answers if I feel lost. |
