Question Can you relate to this?

Do any of you ever get the feeling that there is a world all around you that you've never seen before but have always been able to, if only you'd look for it? Like maybe you feel a strange sense of wonder when you close a door and realize that just a moment before you were on the other side, or you pick up a book and realize how amazing it is that it's so full of pictures and words and knowledge. Or perhaps you walk through your home and realize that you've never really seen it before, like everything in it is a strange new piece of architecture that has suddenly revealed itself to you. Maybe you just notice that you have eyes, eyes that can see, and behind those eyes is a person connected to the whole world through those eyes, and that person is you.

Can anyone relate to these experiences?

Sometimes I am driving on the highway and I notice buildings around me that I don't normally notice when I am zoning out.

Check out this awareness test

There's a lot of stuff around us that we never notice, even if it is "obvious".

Absolutely, yes! I think it's the difference between really seeing something and seeing our preconceptions about that thing. There is a whole world behind our thoughts.

Does this mean anything to you?

Yeah. It first happened to me when I was looking at a lake, and I adjusted my glasses. It was as if my glasses were a screen showing the outside world, which I had just switched on for the first time.

I feel as if there's something important to realize about this, some inevitable conclusion that I haven't reached yet. Like a deeper set of experiences that I'm still ignoring.

Hi The Cloud -
Yes, I have experience those things as well - I liken it to experiencing things as a child would - with wonder - as though I was seeing it for the first time.

And I think it's pretty cool!

i have had this experience....most of time when outside or driving...it is like everything has more clarity than it does "in real life"....sometimes i feel it inside like a deja vu thing...or like, even at 57 years old...i cannot believe where i am, what i have done or not done, what i have survived and i am here now in my home or my job and like, i am a grown up person!...i also think there is something else behind this...because as eye opening as it is it is a strange, tho' not uncomfortable feeling....like there is just something else beyond it....
