Default What Compassion Is

As a Buddhist, I think constantly about what compassion is and is not and how to develop it in my own life. I firmly believe a life lived overflowing with compassion for others is the happiest life possible, and one that doesn't necessarily involve self-sacrifice, as compassion is so often thought to require. And yet I constantly fail to live up to my aspiration to be compassionate at all times. I wrote a post called "What Compassion Is" on my own blog that can be found at What Compassion Is « Happiness in this World
and I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on the value of compassion and how others work to manifest it in their lives.

Nice post Alex!

Happiness leads to compassion. I tend to be compassionate to those who suffer because I know they're being ignorant. However, rather than convince them that their thoughts are unreal, I instead spread my happiness. I unconditionally accept them. Its amazing once their happy, how all their problems don't matter for a brief moment.

awesome stuff.

as i replied in my comment at your blog, i see compassion as unconditional love - allowing others to be who they are.

learnt a lot about compassion at amma's ashram in india, the ashram of "the hugging saint". check out her site at Amma.org - really amazing being of light.

respect
