I have an irrational hunger for Truth and to know and experience directly who I really am.

Nothing in the world compares to this presence that I Am. Nothing.

Some people say that enlightenment can not be described or explained; only experienced. I have talked to many people who I consider enlightened and have read boocoo literature on the subject. Here is what I have ascertained enlightenemt to to be - A very high level of conscousness where one realizes that everything is one, much like the ocean which is made up of billions and billions of single drops of water. It is the realization, without thinking, that we are all part of the whole. Everything including all animals, plants, rocks, water, air, the sun and moon, all the starts - everything is made up of the same stuff - space with a little bit of matter thrown in. Enlightenment is beyond the limitations of space and time. It is neither being nor non-being, neither living nor not-living. It is a state of oneness.

So, yes, this person wants to be enlightened in order to escape the bonds of mind and body - to realize that there is something beyond this illusion.

Based on what I've heard and read, it seems like a very ideal state - you feel blissful, nothing disturbs you, completely at peace, though the world around you may not have changed much.

All this while you're right here.

I've been interested in the concept, read up alot about it, but not as much lately.

I do have an interesting story about that time though.

When I was really reading up on this, I once had dream that became lucid -I was standing outside a gym during some dance in the night time.

I was looking up at the moon, and suddenly it began to move down, and get closer and closer, until it completely enveloped me;

I suddenly felt like I had dissolved into this awesome feeling vibration - pure bliss is what I would describe. No boundaries, no objects, just a strong blissful vibration.

It lasted for about 2 minutes, and then the moon rose upward again-never forgot that one.

Another dream was similar, only this time I dreamt I was a crystal-like being, same vibration, very blissful.

I don't really believe it was enlightment, just a lucid dream that was probably triggered by reading so much about it.

But during that time, I was reading a book titled 'quantum consciousness' which has a number of different exercises in it that it claims can create the state of enlightment, 'beyond me' , or 'one with everything state'.

I think that may have influenced my subconcious to dream about it. I never fully pursued the exercises, so I don't really know how effective it's claims are, but I like the scientific approach the author took..

Maybe I'll look up those exercises again!

The good thing about enlightenment is that you get rid of all the karma, so you do not have to go through all the tests in life.

Have you also read about the holographic ideas? That it's not so much that we are part of something else - but one in the same. The analogy of us being drop in the ocean does fit, to me. not that I "know" anything - this is just conceptualizing.

So then this read more like there aren't parts, all the same stuff. That fit more as far as I can guess.

What is it that wants to be enlightened? Is it you? It's a strange thing because to really be enlightened is to not have a "you" anymore - so it's said.

Hey NightD! Cool experience there. I once woke up in what might be the etheric body and looked at my 3d body laying in bed asleep. I could see this neon blue lattice for my body.

It's said that people can have glimpses of being "awake" and then slip back into what is the dream of our life. That our egos can go through peak experiences that are full of wild strange things while almost popping through, or getting super close to letting go completely.

Pun intended? re: spirit

someone doesn't want it now, hmmm...

sometimes I think I have no idea at all what enlightenment is - so it's hard to want. Or that wanting is only something ego does and enlightenment is non-ego, the complete let go. So why would I (ego) want enlightenment if it means it goes into the background. Maybe I just want the wild rides of getting close...

Yeah, like it's all a dream of some kind. And these dream illusions maybe just what karma is then and it persists in all kinds of weired levels while we are not awake.
