Default Seek Your Guru

As words are pointers, so are all the other people who seem to point you in the right direction. In reality there are no other people because when you create your own person, you create the others, then you create a distance and a void that has to be crossed and filled.

The more seperation, the more you will toil to end the seperation. As you are all the others, then the more you seek, the more sources you create to aid in the seeking and you will find that leads to further frustration.

Seeking has value, just as thinking you're inside a body has value, but it will all have to be transended. You are suppose to become aware, to awaken in the dream, to know what you are, you must know everything you are not, but every word you add, every guru you seek, while having value, can and often does just keep you imprisioned.

Ask questions, seek guidance, but don't trust anyone to ever tell you the truth, no person and no words can do it for you. People and words are pointers, they have value, but only you can free yourself.

Trust yourself enough to know that

There is never a sudden, total understanding of everything. Just as scientists gradually unravel the mysteries of the physical universe, reaching a certain plateau of understanding, then moving forward to the next level, so does the spiritual seeker move from one level of understanding to a deeper one (symbolicall speaking).

If one says, 'That's it, I've found it, I understand everything!', then one is deluding oneself. Another obstacle or problem will always arise to test and challenge our understanding and prompt us to seek further.

The work starts (for the child) with discovering/inventing separation, and understanding begins with re-discovering unity.... In between, we think that we're living in the dream.

The most difficult separation to bridge, for me, is willful, stubborn separation. If "x" is in my dream, why doesn't "x" behave and believe as I would prefer him/her to behave or believe? Or, to put it another way, why do I require "x" to keep needling/annoying/distracting me?

I have discovered that when I can accept "x" as part of my One, "x" generally goes away.

There is no need to change our conciousness because everything is right in front of us. Once we stop seeking the truth, the truth will find us. There is no duality because everything is the truth just the way it is right now at this very moment. The saying that "we can't see the foreest for the trees" applies here. The truch lies before us but we don't recognize it because objects are getting in the way. These objects are the truth just as the trees are the forest. When we are able to realize, without thinking, that all beings exist as one and not as separate beings, we will experience total awareness.

'Seeking the truth', for me , is a bit generalized. I prefer to say something like, 'Seeking a greater understanding of what is', in any given situation.

The truth, or what is, may always be there, but do we recognize it? It may suddenly be revealed to us, but usually, that occurs after some effort on our part, i.e. using our will power and intelligence to recognize and see through apparencies and cut through to the chase.

For example, a scientist or mathematician works for years trying to find a solution to a particular problem. He accumulates a greater understanding of the subject but still does not solve the problem. He has learned that various paths he went down were a dead end. But he doesn't give up. Then, one night, he has a dream and he dreams of a symbolic representation of the solution. Now, would he have found the solution if he hadn't put the previous effort into it? I doubt it, since, if he had no understanding of the problem, the dream would have meant absolutely nothing to him.

Will we find the cure for aids/cancer/swine flu by sitting back and thinking, 'No need to do anything, the truth will find us'?

How exactly do you know that?

"You do not have to go around the world to seek your guru. If your longing for a guru is strong, he will appear in front of you" - Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

That is a great quote at the very end of the interview that Sadhguru says.
"Nobody creates anything truly worthwhile without being absolutely devoted to it." Thanks for the link.

Again, Judge is right. When you step on the "spiritual path", you think that you stepped on the wise level, you stepped out of your ego, and you're no longer depended on desires, "things" you want. It's relatively true, but in reality, all you did is converted the object of your desires. You converted the object from things like money, cars, house, success, future, fame, beauty, being this or that into "spiritual things".

But they are still "things", even though they aren't seem to be.

I still seek the guru, still reading all these books and articles and all that, waiting for the moment when a few sentence SUDDENLY frees me, or makes me able to manifest everything, etc..

If you're honest enough to yourself, you see it. You're still driven by ego, it just set you up.

More money, more success, better car, bigger house, better look -----> more knowledge, being able to manifest, getting the MOMENT when you're done, being enlightened

the biggest steps in the journey are the moments when you see that you're wrong
