Default What does this vision mean?

While meditating today, an image came to me. It was very clear and distinct. The image was that of a very porous sponge floating in water. The water was endless; it had no beginning or ending. The water was inside the sponge and outside the sponge. And then the sponge began slowly disintegrating and became dispersed in the water and then disappeared. All that was left was the water. Can anybody tell me what this means?

Take what I write if it fits and ignore it if it doesn't.

When I read your post this is what came to me:

The sponge is you. The water is consciousness. You are in the consciousness and it is in you. The sponge part of you is your ego and it dissipates as you release and become fully integrated with "the universe" or with consciousness.

It can be a symbol that you should understand or you may have picked up a thought from the mass consciousness. Then it does not mean anything. When I meditate sometimes different images shift through my mind but if I have no emotional attachment to them so I know that they are just thoughts of others.

For me, when I Dream, water represents Spirit.

What came up for me in reading your post was a message of ingration of Self into Spirit.

I once had a similar vision during a Journey when I asked my Guides what happens to "us" when we "die".

I was shown a thimble full of colored water being poured into the ocean. For just an instant, I could still distinguish the colored water from the rest, but very quickly, the distinction was eradicated and all I could see was the ocean - no distinction between what went in and what was "already" there. I was also told that the water in the thimble, eventhough it may have come from a tap or a bucket or any other "place" had its ultimate origin in the same ocean to which it was later poured.

Your vision sounds very similar to me. Though, that being said, it may have a completely different meaning for you.

I think it means that all you need to know can be learned by watching the show "Sponge Bob Squarepants".

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

That is a good show, by the way.

It means you like me.

In traditional dream analysis, water, especially "endless" water as in the ocean, symbolizes emotions. It could be interpreted as meaning you are accepting, fulfilling, and expanding in the emotional experience of being human, until you expand out past the boundaries of your known existence.

And of course symbols are deeply personal, too, so what does it represent for you?

It makes me want to go to the bathroom.

I think that's a great interpretation of a dream but it seemed to suggest that nothing will be left of you when you die because you will just disappear into the source. And that is not ture, because you will always keep your true nature and you will know who you are even when you are only spirit.

But eventually, the "you" that you currentl recognize and understand will have very little if anything at all to do with the "you" that you are "now".

Everything that you are and everything that you experience is simply an expression of all that is and ultimately, like a drop of water, it all comes from and returns to the same experience; Source.

If you would like to say - as many do in this forum - that YOU are ultimately Source, then I take your point.

Thank you all for your excellent thoughts and interpretations. I take them all seriously, even the Sponge Bob analogy. To me, the vision means that our self (body and mind) is in the Source and the Source is in the self.
