Default ADHD Aussies United

Hi everyone, sorry i have not posted in a long time, i have started a new project. i have a son that suffers with ADHD conditions and anxiety and after trying to find a support network here in Brisbane, i realised that there really wasnt one.

ADHD AUSSIES UNITED

ADHD Aussies United was created by me out of frustration. I dearly would like to meet other parents going through this and therefore have started a forum in the hope that it will be a platform for group meetings in Real life and also a resource for those that are just starting out on the path of new diagnosis.

If you or know of someone in Australia that has ADHD, Aspergers, Autism, Bi-Polar in their lives please feel free to pass on the link.

It is brand new so I hope to advertise it shortly and get it out there.

If anyone is interested in helping to grow it or becoming a Moderator let me know. Some experience with ADHD or related subjects would be a requirement tho.

cheers
rae

Default The Brain Place

Hi rae,

I'm not from your neighborhood, but I am an adult with ADD/bipolar challenges myself. I've spent many years seeking and searching for help with this. It's a journey my friend...

Anyway, the best source of information I've ever found is this one: thebrainplace.com (sorry, I couldn't figure out how to make that a link)
Daniel Amen has ADHD kids himself and is a mental health doctor. I've seen him speak twice in person when he was doing book tours and he's a great guy. He knows what he's talking about. There is also a forum on his site.

I've found that his recommendations on the natural supplements are excellent. I've tried many medications over the years and they all had extreme side affects with no real help for the issue. They all left a permanent mark on me in such a bad way. But the natural stuff helps. It's kind of a big experiment that can be frustrating.

I hope you find the great support that you need.

Take care,

Pam

Default wondering?

Hey, I looked at your site and it looks great! You've put some time into that project.

I am wondering if you're going to advertise everywhere or just looking for Australian folks?

I believe you can have all the support you need if you're open to the rest of the globe...

I'm here for ya

Though my focus challenge means that I'll probably forget to check back here, so feel free to private message me anytime.

Take care,
Pam

Thanks Pam, although it is open to the rest of the globe, its purpose is to help Australians have a place to discuss our own unique medical and educational systems etc.

I have no probs with anyone from the rest of the globe joining, in fact they are welcome too, its just they may get a little bored, and there are already a zillion american adhd forums out there already.

I have a couple US people as members there already, they are long time online freinds of mine and will support others emotionally as best they can. however they will be in the dark about our education system, just as most of Aussies are talking on US sites. So if you would like to join you are more than welcome to.

its been a frustration, trying to find good Aussie Forums. in fact i havent. except on MSN and Yahoo and I cant work those things without pulling my hair out with frustration over response time etc.
