Hi all, I've been desiring to astral project for quite some time now but haven't had the initiative. It all started one day when I was napping and my brother came into the room and half woke me up. I felt extremely hazing as I started to wake. I was falling back asleep and a voice from inside of me said, "The body is the housing for the soul." With that my body began to vibrate, it was more intense and rapid that I would imagine a seizure and I felt an eminence of leaving my body. I became frightened and woke myself out of it. I again had a similar experience a few weeks later when falling asleep. Quite randomly I decided to browse this forum again and saw astral project. I had no clue what it meant and decided to look into it. It seemed like some of the things people were experiencing were similar to my own. I've started to look into a few things but was wondering if any people who are experienced in this sort of thing could provide me guidance on how to accomplish astral projection. I'm looking for suggestions like: Pointers from Personal Experiences Guide Books Music/Guidance Tracks (i.e. Monroe institute work for anyone?) Any other things that have helped Thanks for taking the time to read my post, I'm eager to hear what you all have to say, live P.S. If you agree with a previous post please let me know, I really like double input, it gets my confidence up about the quality of a work or pointer. |

All I can say is that you should find a mentor to help you with astral projection. This is not something you should tackle by yourself. Why? There are a lot of circumstances that you should consider, like how will you return to your body if you are in the astral plane. That's why the body system is really important. Find a mentor, learn from him, when you've mastered it, then you can travel as much as you want. |

Is this just a touch and go field or what? It seems with Astral Projectors you are either one or your not, but a learning ground is very hard to come by... I really am curious about this and if anyone has insight for me, do tell!

Hey LiveforSnow2288, It seems as though you are prone to astral projection. The simplest advice I can give you is to work to overcome your fear of the unknown. Fear is the main hindrance to A.P. Lack of focus is also a hindrance. Create meditations that improve your focus and help you overcome your fears. Most anyone who has experienced A.P. will not suggest that you worry about how you will return from your body from the Astral Plane. The real trick is learning how to get away from your body. That is not to say you shouldn't proceed with the utmost awareness of what you are doing. You WILL experience a realm of consciousness unlike anything you know. The learning is endless. Read ANYTHING you can get your hands on. There are a lot of differing opinions out there. Check Amazon for some guidebooks on A.P. Read as much as you can and look for similarities and differences between books. A.P. is not a universal experience for each individual. There is definately a subjective element at times. Historically, any astral projector should probably read all of Robert Monroe's books. I prefer Robert Peterson's "Out of Body Experiences" as a guide for achieving A.P. Peterson has a lot of effective meditation tactics you can use. The stuff you find online for free isn't all that helpful. Reading books helps bring the ideas into focus. Maybe try meditations where you imagine yourself floating up and out of your body. You may also add in a mantra, like "now I'm out of body." That is the most typical way to attempt A.P. Be open and adaptive when exploring A.P. Trust your intuition. Last edited by Philemon; 03-17-2009 at 09:43 AM. |

Hi, liveforsnow2288, I have some suggestions I experimented with a technique a few years ago, where I repeated as I was drifting off to sleep, "Now, I'm out of body", while visualizing being in another room as vividly as possible. You can just say the affirmation alone, but visualizing seems to make success more likely according to the author of this technique.. I did it as I drifted off to sleep, while intensifying the words as much as possible. The author of this method claimed that when he did this, he eventually blacked out into sleep, and then awoke to intense vibrations which allowed him to leave his body. I seemed to have experienced the same thing he described. I remember drifting off and blacking out, then suddenly awaking to strong, tingling, vibrations. I was lucid, there were no 'dream images' and my mind state didn't change at all, so I recognized that this MIGHT be the out of body state. I actually felt myself sat up out of my my body, and moved to the edge of the bed. I was still lucid, my mind state and scenery didn't change, just like when you're 'awake'... I did this technique a number of times and had the exact same experience at least a couple of more times.. There were also some other things you can do while awake to help with astral projection. For example, about every half hour during the day, I would ask myself if what I was seeing was a dream. ("Is this a dream?") Or simply state it - ("This is a dream") ... The result was that during a dream, I would suddenly ask the same thing, if this were a dream, or just recognize that I was dreaming. Then I would become mentally awake and could control the dream or try to use that to astral project. When I practiced doing that frequently, I noticed I had more experiences like that... Good luck and take care, liveforsnow2288, let us know how it goes.. Last edited by nightdiamond; 03-18-2009 at 05:38 AM. |

I remember reading this tek for astral projection a long time ago (i was maybe 14)? I have no idea where its from, and its paraphrased of course, but it is effective. "First start by taking some deep breaths to ground yourself into your body. Then, imagine, feel, visualize - whatever works best for you - hands at the soles of your feet. Take deep breaths, and with each breath feel these hands pushing your astral body out of your physical - slowly pushing through your legs and torso, up to your neck and head; you may feel a tingling sensation as your astral body is moved out of your physical, but do your best to ignore it. Eventually it will drive your awareness away from you body, and you will see the room you are in." At this point, a certain state of calm is required, because excitement can snap you back into your body (with practice, you can more fully engage in the "middle world" or astral). My experience with the astral plane is that it looks as corporeal as you need it to. At first it appeared to just be the physical world with minor differences, but after practice it became a much different, less tangible thing. I suggest on your visits to the astral that you travel via thought or will to various magical places (temples, monuments, forests, jungles, underwater, even outerspace) and places that have meaning to you, or that you are drawn to. You are bound to have some interesting experiences. And remember, if you start having a negative experience all you have to do is call on an Archangel/Angel like Michael or Gabriel and it will be taken care of, although you may return to your body. Speaking of that, you cannot become seperated from your body, nor can your astral cord be severed or anything of the sort. Simply put - the astral body is YOUR body, you are just percieving the experience of reality differently. The illusion of movement through space is a result of living on the 3rd dimensional plane - so everything is in one place anyhow. You may "run out" of energy, but you will either fall asleep or just return to your body. The more practice you have in the dream/astral/energy body (they are the same vehicle, we just take it different places) the longer you will be able to use it. When you do come back, remember to ground yourself with some deep breaths into the soles of your feet - maybe even stand up and stomp your feet or atleast keep your awareness there. You can eventually be semi out of body if you dont and you will feel pretty "spacey" otherwise. Enjoy - you can have some very cool experiences out of body. |
