is my son hearing a spirit ?

I had wishy- washy feelings about 'ghosts' for a long time
but after my dad passed away in 2006 and we saw his spirit we have no doubts now

yesterday my 15yo son was alone in the apt and he heard someone say "hey" to him and he told me he was a little afraid

so what do I do to alleviate his fear ?

lifetimelearner 02-15-2009 06:53 PM

I forgot to include the picture of my dad's spirit looking at us through the window -

If hearing "hey" is completely unrelated to any emotional event, stress and/or trauma, then it was probably an auditory hallucination. After all, haven't you ever thought you heard someone call your name before?

Otherwise, if your son feels its a ghost/spirit, it would probably be a good idea to explain that the spirit has something greater in store then hanging around just to scare him.

lifetimelearner 02-15-2009 08:32 PM

there was no emotional event

tintin 02-15-2009 08:47 PM

nah..that doesn look like your dad!

on a serious note you can get help from a medium.maybe your son is a sensitive.

to handle your childs fear doing something physical will help.
like a ritual or something.
light a diya(oil lamp).(with mustard oil) you can fix it up in a steel bowl or earthen bowl.you can use a thin strip of cotton, rolled up as the wick.
keep the flame going by pouring oil.
(if camphor cubes are available just dip one into the oil)

make him burn an incense stick and take it from room to room.
take a large pan /or a bell and bang it/ring it real loud and long.if you want you can take that too into every room.

you can make loud noises along with it.HOI HOI HOI (ululating is extremely funny too)

well ..i dont know if it wud really DO anything.but you both just might be rolling on the floor with laughter.and the fear will just fly outa you.youll feel refreshed strong and happy.and get VIBING HIGH!!

another lovely thing you can try with your son is make him chant the OM,taking a deep breath and just sitting cross legged(incase the lotus is too complicated)and releasing his breath n saying aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuummmmmmm!

do it with him if you do.
:)

Wow. :eek:I'm  with the picture.

May I ask you to keep in touch because I am very interested in your case as I had similar experiences. Well, not exactly like yours but events surrounding my dad (or that I think involved him).

* Day after funeral I asked for a sign that he was OK and got to the kitchen and found some lost pictures on top of the table, where the flash light was right on his face, and he had a broad smile (my husband and mum, the only people in the house swore they did not touch those pictures, nor did they know where they'd been before showing up there);

* mobile phone (his) kept ringing when I was alone in the living room showing "number unavailable". It's the only time I saw that message. Our phones here usually say "private" or give the number. I only got static when I answered and it stopped one night when I asked it to stop;

*one day I was so down I felt like life itself was slipping out of me (no energy, depressed) and suddenly I feel like a breeze and the smell of his clothes when he used to return from the countryside on a rainy day. (If I wanted to reproduce this smell in my head I couldn't; but when I felt it I recognized it).

*I won 10,000€ last year (I'd intended it) on a contest that went on for 3 months. I ended up winning on the day of his birthday.

I have other episodes but I am not sure if I can link them to him or to the spiritual world in general. This is not an area I like to dive into too much but at the same time I am curious.

Thanks in advance. All the best.

PS: If anything scares you ask it gently to stop.

in both the cases the dads seem to be 'watching over' yknow.
tho dont know about LTLs case.

if youre not able to deal with it you cud always go to a medium.

and a very loving article by erinOfferings to the Dead

lifetimelearner 02-15-2009 10:07 PM

the picture was taken the day after dad died -several followed but none were as vivid as the one I posted
mom called a local medium and she said do not invite dad in because he needed to move on
I think he was outside because he died on the front lawn

after he died I was at my house and I smelled cigar smoke -nobody in my house smokes but dad did

my other son thought he saw dad sitting on a park bench one time

wow what great experiences
thank you for sharing them
:)
I did tell dad that I loved him but I did not think I would be able to handle seeing his spirit but I did feel someone sitting on the edge of my bed after he died
I got scared and opened up my bedroom door
my kids thought I was crazy because I liked to sleep in the complete dark

not anymore
:)

Oh, he'll get used to it. :p

Seriously, I live in an apartment block built on a former graveyard (we didn't know until years after we moved in) and there were ghostly happenings for years. There still are.

And the thing is ..... We have gotten used to it. We don't live in fear any more, although we don't particularly like ghosts.

(Last Friday, my wife just shouted at a little ghost child in one of the bedrooms and told him to get out. He was squatting on the floor with his chin cupped in his hands, looking sadly at her).

Are we crazy? Of course, some people will think that we are.

But those who have actually experienced this for themselves .... will understand. And the people who understand, include my neighbours!! Because all of us living in that apartment block have had the same sort of experiences, for years.

Don't be afraid. Vast majority of ghosts are very harmless and they have very little capacity (not NO capacity, but very little capacity) to do anything on the physical level.

Yes, they CAN say things like "hey". If you are very attuned, you could have full-length conversations wth them (but most people would not want to).

I've had the little ghost child (the one I mentioned in my previous post) say, "Hello Auntie" to my current live-in maid. And also assorted other ghosts saying "Belle Belle" to my little daughter ("Belle" is her name; we address her affectionately by the name "Belle Belle" quite often).

If you completely ignore them, these sorts of things tend to come to a stop. At least for some time.

azzyboo 02-15-2009 10:31 PM

Oh I have so many experiences to do with spirits or unexplained things jury is still out on what is really going on but I am open to anything :)

One of my faves, at my mums funeral her favourite song was played, Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship. Couple of days later I was clearing out some of her things from her bedroom and the alarm radio turned itself on and guess what was playing Yep Starship but even better, time on the clock was within 15 mins of when she passed.

Poss a heads up that she was watching you decide.

I'm no expert, but just my intuition here from what you said above. My dad passed away after a few days in hospital whereas your dad seems to have died suddenly? Could it be he does not know he died? And he might be getting frustrated getting your attention?

I sense that my dad is around me because I still feel I need him a lot, which I know it could be bad according to many theories and I could be holding him back. But I know he knows he's on the other side.

Have you thought that your dad may not know?

I think you are right, seems if we talk about the goings on in our place and life that may or may not be ghosts the occurences do seem to increase, wonder why this is ?

Yes I find this too. Hence why I usually don't delve too much into these subject matters. It seems to stir things up. But then curiosity takes the better of me. :o

Ok so long one here, told you I could write a book :)

So we have had funny goings on around us for years way before my mum passed , once something that i think lives with us decided it obviously wanted to come for a night out with me.

So I am driving over to my friends house one evening and i feel really cold but it was not a cold evening, but tbh didn't think much more of it til later.
After we had had dinner at friends we all went to sit in front room and her husband was telling us about when he dressed up as a knight for some role playing weekend he went on, I laughed and said I wished I'd have seen him dressed up.
He said no probs he stood up to come across the room towards me but before he could reach me, a picture ( not in a frame just as it comes from developers )
floats down from the top of the dresser beside me and lands in my lap.
It was a picture of him dressed up as a knight and he was just going to reach it down to show me but some how it made its own way to me, still trying to work that one out.

Apparently I had night terrors as a child to the point where I once ripped my bed sheets, this was according to my mother but tbh I don't remember a thing of it.

I love the dark, cannot sleep unless all light is out even annoying little blue light on my mobile phone charger annoys me lol.

It's not harmful but it's scary, especially if it comes with hallucinations like I had as a child. Still have it but no hallucinations included.
