Traveling in India and and looking for a meditation resort

Hello everyone, this is my first post. In fact I'm not really sure how I stumbled onto this site. I noticed it was saved under my favorites although I have no recollection of doing so ha! Anyway you guys seem like a fairly conscious group so maybe someone could help me out of a jam. I will be traveling through Northern India soon and I'm looking for a place to meditate (meditation resort, ashram.) Ideally it would be a place I could stay at for 1-2months that's safe and reputable with skilled instructors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was originally planning on visiting the Osho meditation resort for a 3-month program however it seems a little suspicious. For example 6-8 hours of each day would be devoted to working (with no pay) at the resort. Supposedly this is sometype of consciousness expanding exercise. Sounds more like an easy way to get your resort cleaned.

Too much hard work sitting 6 hours a day cross-legged mind-absent surrounded by a bunch of fellow tourists. I suggest you to go south, to Kerala and check in in one of the wonderful resorts/clinics where you get pampered with Ayurvedic treatments, yoga and meditation.

Thanks for the reply ming. I hadn't thought about adding in yoga and massage, interesting. Do you have any specific suggestions for resorts like this around Kerla?

Best thing is to get from your local library a good updated travel guide to Kerala. There are places that you can book online but I think it is cheaper to arrive in Kerala and do some research there. Most ayurvedic resorts are in Varkala, but you might want also meditation, yoga and perhaps kerala cooking in a package check out these sites and google ayurvedic retreats in Kerala. Good luck.
