"As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence it to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being." Carl Gustav Jung Did that clear things up for you? Last edited by Honeywith4bees; 02-04-2009 at 04:05 PM. Reason: spelling |

Taking into consideration that the "point" to life is a concept that you hold in your mind, I would say that the "point" to life, taken in this context, is whatever you decide it to be. It's whatever you feel like making the point of your life. This explanation tends to lead to people jumping off of bridges though, so I guess I'm going to have to think of a better one someday... |

| Take your pick: 1) Life is a mystery, there is no point. 2) To survive. 3) To serve. 4) To have fun. 5) To become more conscious/aware. 6) To become 'one' with the universe. 7) To do God's will. 8) To become God. 9) To end suffering. 10) To realize the truth of LoA! 11) To make as much money as possible, in the shortest time possible, with the least possible effort, and to die laughing your socks off. 12) Any combination of the above. |

| I have no clear answer for you, but I hope this guiding quote will help you find your answer. "It is something you wish to figure out by your own self." It is true we'll eventually die, we can't blame god for this if there is one. the only thing we can do is that make the best of the things we're given. |

Here's a break down of various answers to that question by philosophies from around the world. But those are all wrong. Life is a punchline to a great joke that no one has heard. The meaning of life is to seek the ridiculous. Who knows? You might luck out and hear the Big One.

| Quoted for truth. I took a different tack to this question here: What is the Point of It All? | Mind-Manual My conclusion is basically that the question arises out of a certain sort of mindset and if you adopt a different (better, IMO) mindset, it no longer arises. Basically, the upshot is that things don't have inherent meanings, but that those meanings arise in the interaction between things and a consciousness. Life is much the same way, insofar as it is referred to as a "thing" and then any attempts to "find" meaning within the thing are futile because it has none. You (or your consciousness) gives things meanings. If you woke up in the morning and found a thuosand dollars in your bank account, a poor person may be really happy, while a millionaire would be devastated for having become poor instantly. Same stimulus, different meaning and thus different response. Same with life. Adopt a different mindset and the quesiton no longer makes any sense. |

One of my favorite songs when I was young. And one of the best answers to this question: What's the Meaning of Life?

Well, actually the point of life is experience.. its experience we take with us.. when we go.. the experience is valid even if the illusion is unreal.. Technically speaking a lot of us think the dream reality is the illusion or not real.. when in fact the truth is this is the dream.. |

The Point of Life: We all seek as much as pleasure as possible, and to avoid pain as much as possible. The pleasure of having companionships: Spouse, family, friends, acquaintances etc... The pleasure of ownership: Home, automobile, yacht, boat, etc... The pleasure of title: Doctor, Lawyer, writer, artist, president, lawmaker, etc... Toward the end of life, you have the pleasure of bragging right of what you have done through out your life. With the thought of pleasure, you can accomplish many things in your life. All those pleasurable events are considered physical pleasure. If you decide to practice meditation to gain wisdom, you will gain mental pleasure. When practice meditation and reach momentary concentration, your mind become calm and gain some peace and pleasure. When you reach access concentration, you will have pleasure better than sexual pleasure. When you reach deep concentration and you mind fall into base, the pleasure is much better, and more sublime than the previous stage. When you reach 1st stage absorption, the pleasure is much better, and more sublime than the previous stage. When you reach 2nd stage absorption, the pleasure is much better, and more sublime than the previous stage. When you reach 3rd stage absorption, the pleasure is much better, and more sublime than the previous stage. When you reach 4th stage absorption, the pleasure is much better, and more sublime than the previous stage. This is the highest and deepest stage of concentration. Pleasure is important...and pleasure is the point of life. Pleasure can be unwholesome and addictive.... Also Pleasure can be wholesome and not addictive.... Buddha gained enlightenment through wholesome pleasure. make your choice. Best Regards, Johnny |

that is my original answer. I don't take others ideas. If i knowingly used an idea that was someone else's I would have the decency to inform the viewer that it was not my idea. But like i said that was my original idea. I am honesty flattered. i am not even sure if i should be. But i am. =)

The purpose is for our spirits to evolve into ascension. We're born, we die, we're born , we die. Reincarnation is real. There is a purpose to it. We have evolved spiritually over the millennial. Spiritual evolution is what it's all about. We are in the beginning of the biggest spiritual evolution ever right now. We must let go of all the old beliefs because they are wrong. Spiritual evolution is ascension into a higher dimension. The earth itself is ascending. It's going through the birth pangs now. Attune yourself with the earth and you'll swing right through it.
