Default Achieving deep trances and deep meditations

Hey guys,
I've been researching meditation and hypnosis for a fairly long time now, but im not really sure where to go about starting.
I'm not really sure how to meditate or achieve deep trances.
I realize that i will not suddenly be able to meditate overnight, but I am really looking for a place start, and don't know how to go about this.
All comments are highly appreciated.

Its all about absorption. Pick a cognitive object and focus. A cognitive object is anything that you can be aware of in your mind. Any thought, emotion, image, concept, or feeling. And then just make a commitment to think only of that for whatever specified time you have committed to.

It's like a muscle that gets stronger every time you use it. It can be mentally tiring at first, but gets easier if you make a daily practice of it, just like anything else.

Similar to body building, the observable benefits of this mental workout will probably take a bit of time to show up. But if you stick with it, you will see these benefits for yourself.

Personaly I do breath awareness (30mins at the moment) and Holosync (1hr) meditation on a daily basis. Check Holosync® by Centerpointe : Guaranteed to produce deep, super-pleasurable meditative states, razor-sharp thinking, quantum leaps in self-awareness. if you're interested in Holosync....

Breath awareness works very well. I also use anchors (finger positions in my case) to speed the return to these states when desired. IMO the body positions and finger touch combinations in all traditions are actually just anchors that allow quicker, easier access to a certain state of mind. If there is anything to Shelldrakes* morphogenic fields the positions could actually work for someone who has never used them, allowing access to mystical states by treading a path already well traversed by those before them. This theory also helps explain how "fake it till you make it" works, simply by following the actions of others you can achieve results beyond your individual ability.

The science behind mind states is the changes in brain-wave frequency which must occur. Using your bodies natural bio-rhythm and meditating when you naturally "slow down" will help at first, you can then use anchoring or verbal commands to transfer the state to any time you wish. I've never used Holo-sync but have read positive things about it, my understanding is that they use audio frequencies to create a binaural beat which trains the brain waves to a certain frequency. The shamanic drumming still practiced by some tribes works in a very similar way.

Time directed to this is well spent, In my experience reaching the lower brain-wave frequencies (while awake and conscious) is very beneficial for all development. What I noticed was..... an increase in synchronicity in my life, less stress, intuitive ability enhanced, more frequent instances of spontaneous fulfillment of desires, just a general straightening out of little annoyances in my life. Best of all I just feel better in general.

Personally, getting into a deep trance is difficult for me as well, but if I do it after I do some cardiovascular work, like a brisk walk or riding the stationary bike, I find it much easier to get into a trance or deep meditation. It's almost like completely forgetting about your body and mind and just floating.

Close your eyes and concentrate on your breath and sit in a comfortable chair. Take deep breaths at first and taper back to normal breathing. Count to ten, inhaling as 1, exhaling as 2, and then start over at 1. Eventually, it will happen for you. It just takes practice.
