Default Capital Punishment

I've just clicked onto youtube and there are loads of videos of Saddam Hussein being hanged. The bbc and other media have shown footage /photographs without any warning of the content, which I have found quite distressing.

I am aware that he murdered, tortured and did dispicable things to thousands of people. But still I feel that the death penalty was wrong. I have always been against capital punishment, even with this real-life example, I still believe feel abhorance at the death penalty. Please don't get me wrong, I feel the utmost horror at his crimes, and feel so much for his victims, I know he didn't give fair trials himself and killed anyone he thought opposed him and yet I still think hanging him was wrong. I would have prefered him to have to life with the knowledge of his crimes for the rest of his life.

Btw I'm not being deliberatly contensious here. I'm sure that there are lots of people who think he deserved to die. I struggle with the death penalty in any situation and this is an extreme example. I'm also shocked at the number of people who have chosen to watch footage of the hanging going by the number of views on youtube and I feel assulted by those images being blasted into my consciousness without warning.

I felt the same way! When the news interupted and said that Saddam had indeed been put to death I felt bad for him. Even knowing what he did I don't think anyone deserves to be hung. Immediately upon hearing that then I thought of all the people who would be on the net hungrily looking for the pictures and videos of the execution and that made me so sad, It's like they are in a frenzy over this.

Wow, that is really sad. I didn't know he had been hung (I never watch the news). I know what he did but still feel bad for anyone facing capital punishment.

And sadly this is quite tame compared to what some people are searching for on the web.

There are some seriously sick and twisted people in the world and mostly because of what they watch and feed into there heads. I know the internet is full of good things but the bad is there as well and can be gotten at very easily.

Saddam is despised for the barbaric acts he committed against mankind. So we respond with our own act of violence.

I see I'm not the only that finds capital punishment puzzling.
