Question Weekly Religion: Buddism

Is there a buddhist thread here on these forums? I'm interested in learning about buddism. Thanks!

I don't think that's been one of the Weekly Religions yet (although I have a sneaking suspicion it will be, soon!).

But here's some reading to get you started...

http://www.buddhanet.net/

There's a wealth of great information there.

Sorry for the delay in promoting this to the weekly religion spot. The holidays caught up to me a bit more than I expected them to.

Simply search through the Spirituality, Consciousness, & Awareness subforum and look for posts that have "Weekly Religion: {religion name}" in their titles. I tend to stick threads up every week and a half, depending on different circumstances. I prefer to promote a thread that already exists, rather than make entirely new threads, so while this one has existed for nearly three weeks, it has only been in the Weekly Religion spot for three days, since my post on Jan 1st in this thread.

The fastest way to do that would be to make use of the forums search feature. A quick search in the Spirituality, Consciousness, & Awareness forum/board using the keywords "weekly" and "religion" turned out the following results.

Additionally, you can also do a Google search on Steve's website (the link I gave will do the job, but you can also find a Google search bar on the side bar to the left of Steve's home page). Be aware, though, that using the either of the links I just gave (in this paragraph) will search through not only the forums, but Steve's articles and blog posts as well (ie. his entire website). If you'd like to do a Google search on the forums alone, use this link, but make sure you click the "Search StevePavlina.com/forums" checkbox (which is technically a radio button, not a checkbox) before you do your search.

Default Buddhism

The wikipedia link will be a good place to start. From what I understand there is a lot of common trends in Hinduism and Buddhism which are all common to religions originated from India. The concept of Nirvana, Moksha, Reincaranation etc are common. There is also a belief that Buddha is one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
