Question about higher self...

I am pretty new to this, but I have been doing lots of reading lately, and I had a question about something.

I have been reading about connecting to your higher self in this present life, and I have also been reading about what happens to your spirit after we die here. It seems like a lot of people believe that after you die, it takes a few days (or whatever appropriate amount of time) for you to realize/get accustomed to the fact that you are dead, then you get a life review of your earth lifetime. It would seem logical to me that after you die, you would be immediately reconnected with your "higher self" and you would remember everything about your past lives, and remember what you know about different planes of reality. But from what I read, it seems like you have to re-learn all of this every time you physically die?? I have read about how you "snap back" from astral projection when your spirit re-enters your physical body - wouldn't it be something similar to this when you physically die? Like you "snap back" to your higher self? Are we not immediately re-connected to our higher self when we die? If no, why not? Are we not ever really "re-connected?" And if we are immediately re-connected to our higher self when we die, why do we need this period time to realize that we are actually physically dead? Why don't we "snap back?"

first of all we are always connected to our higher selves, as it is who we really are. this connection is masked by our personality most of the time which is why we still the mind, in order to rediscover this connection.

when we die, they say we get access to information that isnt avaiable to us now, such as past lives etc, although some people can access those now too with practice.

so i suppose there is no real re-connection because we are always connected, its just that we have forgotten this. the only re-connection is to consciously remember this, which i have been informed by my guides, we really enjoy doing, hence why we are here. it is interesting...
