Here is a little quiz:

Which statements seem most natural for you to say;

1. I have a body; or, I am a body?

2. I have a brain; or, I am a brain?

3. I have a mind; or, I am a mind?

4. I have a soul; or, I am a soul?

5. I have a personality; or, I am a personality

6. I have an ego; or, I am an ego?

Are you an "I have" or "I am" person?
What are your thoughts on this?

I am a "I have" person definately.


However the point of this quiz seems assinine, what exactly does it prove?

Who is this "I", that has all these things?

This quiz does not prove anything. It is only to cause one to question the assumptions we live with, and by.

All are not who/what I am...the Self.
and even though we may not be those things we should be good stewards of what is on loan to us and take great care of this that we are not.

also, even though we are not these - does not mean we get to disown them. I have a mind - but I do not reject it or deny it.

I once came across something that said to repeat to yourself "I am not this body, I am not this mind". But I thought, it should be more like "I am more than this body, more that this mind", in the spirit of integration.

Often people hear "ok, I'm not the ego so I shouldn't deny it and totally diminish it". But I think we are often finding ways to stay fragmented instead of reclaiming parts of our self to feel whole.

Neither of the statements really feel naturally for me.

I know I 'am' not them.
I know I don't 'have' them.

Things exist, that is the best way I can put it.
