So the most important idea from New Thought thinkers such as Charles Haanel, William Walter Atkinson, Ralph Waldo Trine, etc.. and the basis of the Secret from LOA is derived is: "All power lies within. Power depends on the recogniton of this Infinite Power." In L.O.A., I know that they say that this Power is the source from which all things are attracted to the pereson. Now my question is what do you guys think of this statement? How does this relate to being pragmatic towards your goals in life? To me it seems like they are saying that since we are all part of this universe and inter-connected we can tap into this Infinite Power whenever we want something and draw from it. But I am worried that this power is impractical... |

Sorry, I mean how does one use this deep reservoir of power to accomplish one's goals? Does one repeat, "I am an All-Powerful expression of the Infinite power, just like the drop of water is part of the ocean, therefore this Power will help me win success and achieve my goals." What I'm getting from reading those New Thought books is that you are supposed to believe deeply in this omnipotent, universal power and it will aid you towards you goals. But how will this power aid you is my question? |

btw I'm not starting a religious argument here I'm just stating my opinion. As far as me containing infinite power... I don't buy it. If I have infinite power and you have infinite power and I want you dead but you want to live then who wins? | |

darthangel The way you ask that makes me think that you consider it (the power) to be similar to a religion. You know, follow the rules, pray to the God (the power) and God will help you. and really, the power that you are talking about is really about understanding some basic laws of the universe. For example: Like attracts like. The thoughts (thoughts are things) that you think vibrate at a particular frequency. When you focus on those thoughts they attract more thoughts that are similar in frequency. Pretty soon you have a thought form. Keep your vibration (your tone) at a particular frequency and it will eventually manifest physically. The thing is that this 'power' is always working in your life. You are always connected to source power. |

| Not here. I AM infinite power! Infinite abundance and joy, too. It's not even a question of believing or not believing -- it's simply a question of: am I willing to recognize Who I Really Am? I don't have to struggle to generate a belief, but rather to practice being awake to what's Here. How will this power aid me? As I expand more and more into this infinite power, joy, and abundance of my being (I realize that sounds sort of new-agey and whoo-whoo as I wrote it, but it's not; it's very practical and immediately available in a real way), lately I have been noticing all kinds of practical power available to me: physical strength, ease, suppleness, and endurance -- yesterday I did a 90 minute cardio workout, which is sort of absurd, but felt not even a tiny bit tired; the ability to pivot my thoughts on a dime, from thoughts that feel bad to ones that feel good -- and also the dynamic willingness to do so; feeling generous and grateful like never before; and recognizing the abundant flow of everything I need and want, with such velocity that it makes me laugh. It's like: I'm a little trepidatious about distinguishing new desires because where will I put it all? (You can't have everything -- where would you put it all? -- Steven Wright.) |

darthangel, There's definately some impractical aspects to "I Am Infinite Power" if we look too closely. For starters it has very finite powers. 'Your' & 'My' body is finite & definately Will break down and is made of everything which I Am Not. Every thing 'You' or 'I' have, own, despite infinite needs & wants, is finite and will definately be lost, break down or even bore us and is made up of everything I am Not. Essentially, the most practical aspect of "I Am Infinite Power" - unless its powers have drugged us into a narcissistic rose coloured disneyland of who we think we Are - is that is helps us feel good, hopeful, optimistic, and avoids us beating the crap out of ourselves, thus others around us, which might be otherwise be the case if we saw 'My' Infinite Power, however infintely creative, has very finite power. all the best |

Perhaps I'll take a kick at the can. In our culture, we are typically raised with the idea that the physical world is real and that emotions and consciousness are side effects. God may even be called delusion. In other words, whats outside is real, what's inside is false. To a certain extent, this is true. There is a layer of illusion just inside our experience. The idea of being a separate me and the inner dramas we create. But funnily enough, that's what 'outside' actually arises from. While we have learned a great deal about the physical world through this exploration, gradually science is coming to a wall or glass ceiling. A barrier to understanding. They are seeing unexpected results, like attention affecting experiment or distance in space being irrelevant to instant effects. (quantum nonlocality) The trick is, we have causality upside down. The brain does not create consciousness. Consciousness creates the brain. And the body, and everything else. Our senses are a feedback mechanism for what consciousness projects. Of course, this may be total woo woo if your attention is wrapped up in the world of experience. But if we can take a step back, we gradually will find this to be true. Kinetic energy is essentially intention. So the simple act of intention or directed awareness will draw energy to it. All energy, or power, arises with intention. There is no limits to infinity. Of course, this is not many peoples experience. This is because their attention is not focused but rather jumps around, changes its mind, doubts, and otherwise thwarts it's results. It's not unlike the random light from a light bulb vs a laser. Also infinite power is not found in superficial values. So if you intend superficially, your results will be the same. If you go deeper, then intend from there, you will have much more power behind your attention. There is an old book called the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. It talks about how to connect deeper, focus, and then test the results. The tests you may not believe but they step into what most of us would call miracles. The trick is, we're in this together. There is no you and me, but just One. You may call that God, or source, or whatever. But to really go deep, we have to clear the community. So if each of us does our personal work, it assists everyone else. No need to believe this. If you do the work and 'cleanse the windows of perception', it will be obvious. |
