 Serpent Priests? ok. the other day i was researching information about ancient malta and i came across some texts about 'serpent priests' and i suppose serpent religion? i'm wondering to what extent this is real. the text spoke about how serpent priests were found in several regions.. was this just the pagan religion? i saw some sort of 'skull elongation' ritualistic thing that they had pictures of. i'm not so much interested in that as i am about whether this really existed to begin with. any one who has studied or have sufficient knowledge about ancient societies; i am hoping to hear from you. thanks      |

 History There's a little about the snake cults of places like Malta and Crete. There isn't much known because they didn't leave many writings. So it's mostly inference from building, drawings and so on. You will be able to find books on this in a decent library in the history, archaeology and possibly anthropology sections. They certainly existed there are figurines, drawings, buildings and so forth. But we probably won't ever know much about them - unless some writings are discovered. |
