Prophecy of the End of Civilization?

Is anyone familiar with this?

Reflections - Red Sky Predictions, Native American Prophecy urging a return to our spiritual roots

The first two prophecies (made in the 1920's?) seem to predict the Ethiopian famine of the 1980's, the AIDS epidemic, and the holes in the Earth's ozone layer.

The third and fourth prophecies predict the possible end of civilization.

(Of course, this "prophecy" may have been invented after the fact, but it is thought-provoking.)

From the third sign

"From this time, when the stars bleed, to the fourth and final sign, will be four seasons of peace [that is, one year]. It is in these four seasons that the children of the Earth must live deep in the wild places and find a new home, close to the Earth and the Creator. It is only the children of the Earth that will survive, and they must live the philosophy of the Earth, never returning to the thinking of man. And survival will not be enough, for the children of the Earth must also live close to the Spirit. So tell them not to hesitate if and when this third sign becomes manifest in the stars, for there are but four seasons to escape."

I found this part of interest because if you apply it to now this day and time it would coincide with the mayan calander which points to 2012 as a change which no one is for sure what change it will be?

No matter which one you read the end will be the same.......rain, shine or snow WTSHTF will happen for one reason or other.......get ready.

I do agree with that, I have heard it's anything from the end of the world to the earth shifting on it's axis.Who knows except it's going to be one heck of a ride.

It was at the end of the fourth day that the third Vision came to him. As he gazed out onto the landscape towards the setting Sun, the sky suddenly turned to a liquid and then turned blood-red. As far as his eyes could see, the sky was solid red, with no variation in shadow, texture or light. The whole of Creation seemed to have grown still, as if awaiting some unseen command. Time, place and destiny seemed to be in limbo, stilled by the bleeding sky. He gazed for a long time at the sky, in a state of awe and terror, for the red colour of the sky was like nothing he had ever seen in any sunset or sunrise. The colour was that of man, not of Nature, and it had a vile stench and texture. It seemed to burn the Earth wherever it touched. As sunset drifted to night, the stars shone bright red, the colour never leaving the sky, and everywhere the cries of fear and pain were heard.

Just for the hell of it, I've been trying to figure out what could actually turn the sky red.

The eruption of Krakatoa in 1883 turned the sky a fiery red around the world, due to the particulate matter in the upper atmosphere, but even that was only at sunrise and sunset, not around the clock.

So, what could produce so much smoke, ash, soot, or dust as to create a red sky?

My thoughts were: 1. a comet or asteroid impact, 2. a mega volcano (like the one under Yellowstone), 3. a large scale nuclear war and the burning of hundreds of cities, 4. a local war in the Middle East that set all the oilfields ablaze (though even the burning Kuwaiti fields of 1991 didn't create a red sky).

But none of these would seem to create a true red sky day and night. Perhaps an industrial accident created by an as yet unforseen technology could do so. (Nanotechnology run amok, giant orbiting lenses/mirrors for solar collection, this bright idea: Climate plan could change sky colour [Darwin Alert!]?)

I also considered the aurora borealis, created by charged particles striking the Earth's atmosphere at the poles after being channeled by the Earth's magnetic field. Earth's magnetic field periodically undergoes pole reversal, where it's strength drops to zero temporarily. The loss of protection from the solar wind could destroy all our electronic equipment, which could bring about the collapse of civlization, but the magnetic field isn't expected to drop to zero within the next thousand years.

Anyway, none of these things really seems to fit. Anyone else have ideas?
