Default Great Present-Day Masters

I really enjoy reading and listening to Eckhart Tolle's and Ajahn Sumedho's works. I find both of them easy to follow and their perspectives are deeply inspiring, refreshing and fun!

What do you think of their teachings?

Thumbs up

I really enjoyed Ekhart Tolle and Oprahs webclass. He is inspirational. I also really like Meister Ekhart the mystic who as well as being inspirational makes me laugh. Have you come accross him in your travels? His language is phenomenal in itself. Its all great stuff. adyashanti, Byron Katie and Anthony deMello all sail my boat as well. Its great having all of these Masters .

Default I'm Familiar With deMello

Appreciate your suggestions.

I'll look into Meister Ekhart's works - I've just never got round to it...

Thanks!

I just started to listen to adyashanti yesterday. Wow!!! Great addition to Tolle, Ram Dass and Maharaj. I am surprised he is not mentioned more often on this forum. Also great small clips on youtube.

I enjoyed listening to Adyashanti a couple of years ago back in the bay area (where he's from). He's a very down to earth guy... one person asked him, "What do you do for fun?"

He replied along the lines of...

"I ride my motorcycle and play poker with my friends"

And who says spiritual people don't play poker?

On other tangents, I also very much like Dan Millman's teachings because they're very practical... about what it's like to live a 'regular' life from a spiritual perspective.

A.H. Almaas also goes along those lines... the teachings of The Diamond Approach integrate spirituality and psychology for a holistic approach to self-realization - again, in today's society... living in the world with practical concerns.
