Default Talents and work at birth

Are our talents and natural gifts immediately apparent in childhood?

Would it be possible to tell from our natural inclinations, what field of work and what role in society would be the best for us?

'As the seed, so the tree'? So that society nurtures each individual in their natural traits

rather than the 'teach the bird how to swim better, the rabbit how to fly better' breadth approach of most educational systems today,

wouldn't it be best for society and individuals to identify early the best role for each person, (which may also include reading their spiritual paths or work of the spirit to do here on earth)?

In my school system we had IQ tests for gifted students, and those of us who were identified early as gifted were put into 'magnet classes' which nurtured us in a more specialized way.

Couldn't we do the same with all aspects of personality and giftedness, not just IQ? Earlier differentiation and specialized resources leading to a fuller blossoming of each individuals talents and gifts?

Hi Adelina

I think there's a great deal of merit in recognising talents and traits at a young age and tailoring education around them. If done correctly and univerisally I would imagine such an educational revolution could solve many of the worlds social and economic problems.

There's a balance to strike though, since there's also merit in learning skills and making intellectual and emotional distinctions beyond your natural ability and outside of your comfort zone.

What a nice thought, that it could be achieved.

Cheers
Paul

Ahhh...in a perfect world, yes, this should happen! I would never have wasted so much time at crap jobs, and i would know what i was born to do. I dont think parents or teachers ever gave a hoot about what our gifts were, what we were good at,what we actually wanted to be when we grew up. They didnt know how to figure it out, they just ask us when we graduate and expect us to know the answer. But kids need support and guidance, and persuasion. I was too concerned with spending time with my friends, trying to find a boyfriend, and listening to music to think about or even care about what i was going to do for a living. I wish someone had helped me discover that, kids are too busy having fun to think about their future like that.
